Re: Pioneer Trains development thread
I don't think it's the end either, Ben & Adam, you've just been temporarily diverted into a loop, where, for the time being at least, the signals are on "hold". We all have other commitments and there are only 24 hours in the day to devote to them, so pressing the "pause" key is no bad thing. Fully understand what you're doing. Wish you well, thanks for all the hard work - and look forward to seeing you again in the future.
Cheers,
John

Nice vid. Best bloody sound track you ever did, Ben - full marks for that. Y'know it reminded me a bit of Mark Knopfler's "Brothers in Arms" Who's the artist?

these are just two of the pictures from the drivers eye of the class 91, still WIP as you can see in the screen shots.

Re: Pioneer Trains development thread
What I meant wasn't the cab but the route. I know from my own experience back in history as a LokSim3D route author that building the route in places where the track is high is the hardest part of scenery building. That's why I'm curious how you resolved the situation.

Wouldn't it have been better to upload it to a video site, like vimeo for example?

Nice to see improvements on the Leeds route! There aren't many of the glass types of tall buildings around Leeds though - it's more concrete apartment-style buildings - but meh, the main priority is sorting out the track I imagine!

Re: Pioneer Trains development thread
I know buddy but it's just to get the feeling of the city, I have still to fix the track and Alan is doing his upmost best to get the cross overs in place, we have yet to dabble with the lights and safety systems, a tunnel needs to be adding before outsold station too, I have been playing with objects along the track such as extra piles of hard core between rails and adding them, the likes of the maker of NWM would know all the ins and outs of the creation of routes, but for me it's complex and hard to fathom out, I have people like gray who give permission to use his objects which helps so much in terms of cutting time of development, meaning a faster release, but some items have to be built because they're unique to the select station or town/city so to try add more realism to it, but like on Wakefield's exit you get to 99 arches, these are surrounded by factories and small businesses, I simply cannot recreate that so I am adding tall ish buildings and adding a unique item here and there, but some things have to be lost for the additional items to create more 'hustle and bustle' whilst in busy areas, I have used animation given to me by Gray, and then adapted it to then be able to add trains at speeds that can be changed by me to be added on adjacent track, I've tested a 91 animated file going at 100mph trough a station whilst you are at the platform, which looks like a nice touch, hopefully in time I will gather a group of users who wish to be beta testers and get some feedback coming in that will help more in terms of development.

Re: Pioneer Trains development thread
Well Alan has finally got his update back to me, and work has now continued on the leeds section, this is probably going to be the hardest part of the route and will take the longest to just get right, but so far its coming on, screenshots below.

Then the light gantry thats currently been worked on

I like the front of the 185 - the corners are the top are nice!
I'm trying to create Kings Cross in TS2014 at the moment, but laying points and junctions is a pain.

Re: Pioneer Trains development thread
Cheers buddy! the trackwork is the hardest part of the leeds route, trying to sort the scenery out and make one section merge with another with ease is probably the second hardest, I've spoke with gray about this and hes given me a few good tips, i had a go at Bradford interchange the other week and two days later came out with this;kwijiboenator wrote:I like the front of the 185 - the corners are the top are nice!

I've also been tinkering with the Class 70 again due to a rather strange but vast amount of emails and messages over the last two week asking specifically about it, so here are the results of a couple of hours tinkering
Eagle eyed users will notice the wagons she's pulling are those of Graymac, whos site has a great addition of trains and routes and can be found here > http://www.celtictrainsim.com/

Thanks kwijiboenator, we would be at the stage we're at today without the valuble and much needed support of other developers.

Re: Pioneer Trains development thread
Not sure if people actually keep up to date with the posts from pioneer trains, but we are always working on the route and consists and always update facebook, normally on a day to day basis.
https://www.facebook.com/PioneerTrains
If you have yet to look on our Facebook page, we have recently been given permission from Anthony Bowden to edit his well known 323. And have shown some screenies on our Facebook. (Link above)
We have changed the External and also added our own bogies (yet to be finished) to the train. And have also added custom normals to the exterior.
And in the Northern Rail livery she fits in nicely with the snowy Leeds route. (see below)
And back on to the route, the basic route has now been complete, but the work now starts on Doncaster station and the surrounding yard, then we will concentrate on the other stations, then work will start on the small bits and bats that give the route its character. things like rain that's animated, and sounds such as wind which will be used on certain points of the route which will give you a feel for the wind on that certain valley, but will be played in such a way that you can hear it hitting the front of the train so it gives the driver the feel that he is going into the wind, or through a patch of cross wind. which sometimes can be heard when you're on trains such as the 156.

Looking good. I like the snow route too. I've never seen snow in openBVE before.
