class 91 Pioneer trains
It seems to me that the pantograph is too high. Is it OK? I understand that the a.m. train is a beta version.

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
See there are two answers to this question. yes and no.
NWM fans will say yes its too high
ECML fans will say no its correct.
In real life these go up and down a lot, but OpenBVE doesn't support that which is a shame :/

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
It really s a shame, because e.g. in tunnels, the wires are usually lower. This is why I decided to go for "standardized" heights in my route - according to regulations these are 5.5 meters for power wire and 6.5 meters for carrying rope. But I think this differs between countries.
Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
Yepp... In Germany there is only a norm for the power wire (which is IIRC 4.95 to 6.50 metres), as there are many overhead systems and some of them even don't have a carrying rope at all.

Yeah, it varies here as well, but when there are no obstacles, the height is to be set to 5.5 m.

Just within the UK it differs from area to area....

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
Ran this on the ECML fastest 42 minute route file. The 91 looks OK, but of course, could do with some animation, which will come. However, it ran and handled well over the none-stop run from Newcastle to Berwick-On-Tweed.
Another welcome train, with thanks to everyone involved.

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
Thanks for the feedback bill! Much appreciated, did you notice the panto is inline with ECML wires? Simply because id rather it be run properly on ECML along with the 43

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
I only have the 91 without external! Have I missed something? I also download the other files from the 'Mesh' link but that didn't show any cab when loaded up. Is this one of those files that needs to be added to the main 91 file?
Re: Class 91 Thalys
Thanks for the information! I am again a little more clever.

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
YEah, download the cab ( as you have) then one of the three choices of external you would like to run, east coast, the least we forget east coast, or HQ textured GNER

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
Thanks mrknowitall. I now have the 91 running with the GNER external. Both the loco and coaching stock look great and the pantograph is running true with the overhead wire.
I simply entered the 'mesh' files directly into the main 91 train Folder and everything appears to be working fine.
Cheers.
Bill.

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
Thanks again bill! Good feedback. seems an easy way of adding your own externals, and i hope other users found it as easy as yourself

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
Glad that it is working so well. I have since uploaded the East Coast 91 so that I have the correct train on Ezzypeezy's ECML Route. The external graphics are excellent and very colouful. See below...
Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
Found another interesting and very welcome upgrade and that is that all the locomotive train wheels, not only look more realistic and on the rail surface but that the loco and coaching wheels actually turn also. Another great upgrade for OpenBVE. Thanks again.
Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
We do have turning wheels in several addons, consider checking on Dex's Regionova DMU.

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
Thanks Quork, this is the first train that I have noticed this in action.

Every train on pioneer trains has this bill, and one has a bogie system added to it( i decided to remove it after people hated it not working because a 3 car train in openbve would be a 9 car, so the stop markers didnt work correctly. also the 370 APT tilts! and so will the 390 upon release!

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
Thanks for the further information mrknowital. I have had the APT (Cab Only) on my computer for a while now but I have now downloaded the 'Tilt' files and have it up and running! I say ! as the external appears to have the rear driving coach missing, with just a 'black' outline at the rear of the last coach.
I did as for the Cl91 and entered all the external 'tilt' files into the original 91 train folder. The train shows up and the tilt is very obvious. Is the rear of the train meant to like that for the moment? Other than that it looks and runs very well. (I take it that there is no need to download both the None Tilt & Tilt Folders, or should I!).

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
why did you put the tilt files in the 91 folder for?
and the APT tilt as a whole external, you just pop into your APT cab folder and away you go, i'll check the link for the download

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
Well, my trains also have rotating wheels... the bogies were not implemented, though, because of the reason mentioned above by "MrKnowItAll".
Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
Thank you mrknowitall for all your hard work on the 91. The particular highlights for me are:
- The externals are very impressive. The difficult tapered ends and doors of the Mk4s are well done, and I like the fact that the coach ends are realistically grimy where the washer misses them due to the shape of the body side.
- In the cab, the speedometer is nice and clear, which is very difficult to do on a prototype dial with so many numbers and such a small font.
- the sound are very realistic, with the constant sound of the blowers, and the variable whine of the traction motors behind it.
If I could offer a couple of bits of constructive criticism:
- On a Class 91 + Mk4 set the doors are operated by the guard, not the Driver. Therefore there is no "1-2" buzzer code shortly before departure. This code means "close doors" and is heard on trains where the Guard has to advise the Driver to close the doors
- The physics aren't quite right. In real life, on level track and with good adhesion, a 91 with a standard set of Mark 4s, as depicted, will take about 5 minutes to reach 125mph. This one is taking less than 3 minutes. Bear in mind that, because the 91s are geared for high speed running, these sets do not accelerate quickly at low speeds. Take a look at the Railway Performance Society website and you'll see that on many of the shorter station-to-station runs HSTs achieve times at least as good, often better, than Class 91s. This is because HSTs have better low speed acceleration, with the 91's additional power only showing through at high speed.
I hope this is of some use. Keep up the good work.

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
When I downloaded the APT external it didn't show any cab when opened in OpenBVE so I took it that the external files needed to be put into the main APT train folder as I did with the Cl91!
Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
The APT cab needs to be downloaded from BVE TMD -http://bvetmd.org.uk/index.htm
The buzzer 1-2 doesn't mean 'doors close'. It tells the driver that all doors are closed and it is safe to proceed.

Re: class 91 Pioneer trains
I have the Cab from bvetmd but can't get the new exterior view to work correctly. I have put the external files into the Cab folder and while I get both the cab and an external, the external only shows half a train. The train also looks as if it is locked ina permanat off-side tilt, in the external, but looks level in the cab view.
I have got the External to open without showing the in-cab view. In this case the whole of the external train shows up!
