Re: Pioneer Trains development thread
Love the open "sunroof" over the windscreen. Keeps the cab cool on a hot summer day
Re: Pioneer Trains development thread
the "sunroof" hasn't been created yet as we're having trouble deciding on eiher modling to scale and adding the mesh texture to the front face texture, or creating the mesh as a seperate image. so until we decide it will stay a "sun roof"
gives me time for other projects too
still aligning up the neon stripes
the complexity of the front face, probably the most advanced hand coded face yet made for openbve
and the new mk 3 coach

They're generally considered the best of the modern DMUs/EMUs for comfort. Nice big seats, plenty of leg room, big windows, good ride quality. They have noticeable engine noise and vibration, but no worse than any other DMU. A bit of break 'squeal' when coming to a stand, but other than that, when they work, they are very good trains.
Unfortunately they have suffered pretty serious reliability problems throughout most of their existence, and have therefore been passed from operator to operator like hot potatoes. Still, from our point of view that means they've appeared in a wide range of geographical locations, so they're good trains to have for BVE - pretty much wherever your route is, you can justify the appearance of a 180!

Re: Pioneer Trains development thread
Looks far better than the Talgo Avril for sure
Not sure what my greatest modern horror is... The Talgo Avril (with 2+3 seating!!!) or the new HS-EMU by Ansaldo Breda+Bombardier... Never seen the latter one, might even be nice, they're quite good about design, but when it comes to reliability and work quality... The producers make me shake in terror.
Love the interior detail. Maybe we need a new plugin for OpenBVE to make it also suitable as a conductor simulator? Tickets please!

Anything outside the cab usually doesn't interest me much, but I have to say this is great work. Some lovely atmospheric shots too.

Re: Pioneer Trains development thread
Which Avril video? However, tables folding out of the seat in front of you are anything but new. They're standard in all german IC/EC/ICE since looong ago.
2+3 seating is nonsense in my eyes. For long distance runs it is too uncomfortable, for local runs it's to much a mess with getting seated and back up. But the real terror is the outside; it looks like a suffocating trout to me.

But this is getting OT, could some mod sort this into a new thread maybe?

I don't think Rick is talking about tables folding out of the seat in front - they've been standard in the UK for many years too. He's talking about the table folding out of the front of the middle seat of three, so that if there's nobody sitting in it, it can effectively be turned into a table to be used by the people sitting in the seats on either side. It appears in the video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCBjBftY_Kg
I agree about the whole concept of the 2+3 seating on high speed trains though. You really don't want to be crammed between two other people on a long distance train journey.
You're right -this definitely needs a separate thread...

Re: Pioneer Trains development thread
Especially as we can't deny there are more and more fat people and if we don't change much in our society, the trend will go on. There'll be less and not more room.
As to that table; that will be even less stable than the classical table from the front chair, and a table at the side of a chair you can't really sit sidewards in also isn't very practicable...
