It's still happening. Crash log still says the same thing. Log file does mention a crash, but just points to the crash log.
Code:

Noticed you didn't mention Windows 10, which is what I'm running on. I honestly thought that wouldn't have anything to do with it as I ran the older version on Windows 10 with no problems, but now it seems that could be the case?

Doubt it's Windows 10, but I'm downloading the MS image now and will try it and see.
I've also had one report of crashing when jumping between stations, which I can't reproduce either, so something is a little suspect in the menu interaction somewhere.

Was mostly just wondering it it was complaining about any corrupt files or something, but doesn't seem to be.

I'll get to the bottom of it eventually Smile

Thanks, should be in the latest nightly Smile

I've also found and fixed one rather odd (potential) crash site, which I only managed to intermittently trigger by renaming a file in the route directory whilst loading was in progress. This crashed everything though, and isn't really related to the menu....
Still digging, will report when the Windows 10 VM has downloaded.

I have still been getting the derailed .RunInterval train but mostly take many tries of loading to happen. On your route using the HST train it happened once in 6 loadings. The easiest train to get to happen is your western which happened on 3 of 5 loadings. I had very little success running the western on Cheltenham with very bad derailing most times.

I have never had trouble with many trains such as the cl101 and similar based trains, 323 and almost never on my route which might make it related with my route having less objects than your route though with a lot of objects to render at the start. On Cheltenham using the class 25 it happened 1 out of 11 loadings. Then strangely after testing with the class 25 the western loaded properly 4 times in a row.

I have sometimes been seeing a issue with the menu if I select one route and then another route and windows on the right hand side don't change to reflect the different route selected.

Doesn't surprise me that those are the trains that are triggering it; They're all very high detail.
Combined with a high-detail route, something somewhere seems to be taking too much time to process and is dying Sad

Will try the laptop, as this is rather slower than the desktop and see if I can reproduce there.

Main menu issue:
Ah; If you select a route whilst another is still processing, this will happen.

It'll be a pain to sort out, but will think about this, either way though it's better than freezing entirely, which was the previous behavior.

The only time I've had a crash while running 1.4.230.722 (which is very stable for me and I'm using it as my main program) was when I did something almost impossible under normal circumstances. In windowed mode with the program running a route I'm working on, I edited and saved an entry in the route file and that banjaxed it. Obviously not a normal user event - that's the only time it's failed.
I'm using win7, by the way. Scared of installing Win 10, too many horror stories!!
I've yet to encounter the .RunInterval train so far - derailed or otherwise!!

Thanks Chris and I agree it's detailed routes/trains that it happens in. This is with Win 10 if that makes a difference which hasn't been as good as I had it on my older Win 7 machine. That machine still runs fine but with the cost of repairs needed compared to a new machine I had to go with Win 10.

OK, I may have made some headway with the menu crashing.

I've discovered & fixed a potential timing issue, where if the mouse was moved or a control pressed whilst the menu was in the process of closing it crashed & produced the error you're seeing.
(I could only sporadically reproduce this on an incredibly slow Windows 10 VM, but it's a start)

Have also hopefully figured out why the crash log didn't contain much useful information for this case.

Please try this build & see if it either crashes or gives a more useful crash log:
http://vps.bvecornwall.co.uk/OpenBVE/Builds/OpenBVE-2016-10-08.tar.gz

Another thought:
Matt, you can always try turning off derailments Smile
Doesn't fix it properly, but at least it should mask the problem.

Using that build the menu works correctly. The program never crashed and no message was in the logs with this build or previous builds. Hopefully you can find the derailing issue and yes I could disable derailments but I rather not unless it's just something strange from my end. Sometimes the program also does take a bit longer to start up than usual.

Got a wee problem with the player scoring feature at the end of the game.
The "review last game" feature seems to record the last results as "abysmal" - even if the AI drives it - and doesn't display the details/errors.
Being a dreadful driver myself, I'm glad it doesn't show my mistakes, but the proper players won't be quite so happy Smile
Any ideas????

Hmm, I'm sure I saw this post a couple of days ago....

(Didn't get as far as replying though, and then I'm sure it vanished!)

The review last game uses the blackbox data.
I fixed an issue recently whereby the blackbox data was always being written, no matter what was selected (The blackbox writing function isn't exactly good either, as it rewrites the whole log every frame..)

It's not entirely ideal at the minute, as the review data should be separate to the blackbox, but turning it on will solve that issue. Probably needs a prompt or something to enable the blackbox as a stopgap Smile

Yes, going to options and checking the box for "enable black box" does it.

Today I installed openBVE 1.4.297.1388 on Ubuntu 16.10. Dependencies were installed by installing the openBVE version available from the official repo. The program started and I successfully installed a package. After installing the first package any time I click on the package management page I get an unhandled windows form exception error. The terminal doesn't print anything unfortunately. I am able to navigate the program, change settings, navigate routes, I can even play the game, but as soon as I click package management openBVE freezes and crashes.

Here's the crash log:

I also found some visual glitches, the bottom of letters is cut off in some places. This doesn't happen on Windows. Here's a screenshot to demonstarate this.

I have been having a issue for a while using the nightly builds with the loading of routes in that it often starts at the start of the route late. Sometimes it loads after the departure time especially if the stop is brief. It's generally worst for more detailed routes that take longer to load.

Hmm, doesn't happen here on the VM Sad

Doesn't look like you've changed the default font, but have you changed the display scaling DPI or anything?

If nothing else, I can always add another couple of pixels of padding, but I'd like to find what's causing it.

Will have a dig.
Can't see anything immediately suspicious though Smile

That's odd.
My VMWare install has literally no changes other than installing Mono, Monodevelop & some of the CLI utilities.

Will try & test on a couple of variants of physical install tomorrow, plus try with HU set as the system language. Can't see that making any difference unless it specs a variant of the default font, but will see....

I have come across an Unhandled Windows Forms Exception when installing a route package. This route package has two dependancies (two trains), and trying to install it after the trains triggers the exception. Interestingly, if the route is installed before the trains (by ignoring the dependancy warning), the package installs correctly.

Here are the packages and the bug report zip with the logs.

Train 1: http://bvebarcelona.tk/files/FCMB_2000.obp
Train 2: http://bvebarcelona.tk/files/FCMB_3000.obp
Route: http://bvebarcelona.tk/files/L3_Barcelona.obp

Thank you!

Chris, one more bug. This time I'm on Ubuntu Gnome 16.10. The paddings are now fine with version 1.4.304, but I found a bug. After I install some packages they don't become visible immediately in the Start new game page - that is the Start new game page isn't updated every time I enter it.

This is what we discussed earlier on Windows and I guess it is updated on Windows (haven't actually tried this particular version though). Two screenshots to demonstrate:

Step 1 - I installed some packages.
openBVE 1.5.0 RC1 - BUGS - Page 3 Kypern10

Step 2 - I entered the Start new game page and the installed packages didn't appear immediately.
openBVE 1.5.0 RC1 - BUGS - Page 3 Kypern11

And one more thing. Some of the text doesn't fit in its space because of the different fonts and I'm not sure this can be dealt with easily. An example of this is the Visit official homepage link under the version number, it doesn't fit in its place here. Neither does its Hungarian translation. Because of this I updated the Hungarian language file to make that phrase shorter and fit in its space. Please find it here:

And another bug. I strated creating a new package using openBVE 1.4.304 on Ubuntu Gnome 16.10. I selected the package type and whether it replaces another package. Then I selected the files (actually the Railway directory) to be included in the package. After clicking OK on the file browser window nothing appeared in the list. After that I added the zip file's name and successfully went on to the next page of package creation. I filled in everything on the second page. Finally I clicked Create package. Then I got a message saying that it couldn't create the zip file.

Screenshot after I selected the files to be included in the package - the list is still empty.

(Yeah, I thought I'd be better off quickly creating a package of Graymac's very fine new route instead of manually messing up my folders in ~/.config).
