Re: 1.8.0.1 (64-bit) crash
This is due to the lack of the 64-bit version of OpenAL32.dll.
Please check if there is OpenAL32.dll in C:\Windows\System32. (C:\ is the drive where Windows is usually installed.)
The 32-bit version of OpenAL32.dll is in the folder where OpenBVE is installed.
However, the 64-bit version of it is not included at this time.

Re: 1.8.0.1 (64-bit) crash
A copy of this gets installed by the default Creative installer, and I'd overlooked that we were shipping the 32-bit OpenAL Soft shim; On 64-bit systems with no Creative OpenAL, this won't work obviously.
(It just gets ignored if the Creative shim is present.....)
Quickest solution is to install the Creative OpenAL redistributable:
https://www.openal.org/downloads/oalinst.zip
I'll patch the nightly builds shortly.

No.
First, I wanted him to find out if he had Creative OpenAL.
In that case, the 64-bit binary is in System32.
This is also mentioned on some sites and I got the same error as him by renaming OpenAL32.dll in System32.
I also confirmed that this issue has been fixed in the current nightly build.

Apologies, you're right....
Windows has to be confusing like that :/
Ideally speaking, a patched release version ought to be put out soon (although Creative OpenAL is relatively common, and indeed we were shipping it for quite a while) although I'm not sure this is quite as critical as the initial crashing situation which caused 1.8 to be pushed out sooner than I'd like.
Would quite like to get https://github.com/leezer3/OpenBVE/pull/609 finished / in, but that's primarily an improvement as opposed to a regression.

Well, I'm afraid they'll be confused that completely new users won't be able to launch OpenBVE.
In fact, that happened in the Japanese community.
Becoming a native 64-bit application has enough impact to increase new users.

Thank you for your support.
The file is missing, so I've installed "Creative OpenAL redistributable" to solve the problem.

No problem, and thanks for reporting this
(It's amazing how many people don't)
I've also pushed a new version today with fixes for this and several other bugs.
