Central Line using a Mac Empty Central Line using a Mac

Post by cts90 Sun Feb 18, 2018 7:01 pm

Hi all,

I have been away from BVE for some time, and have since converted to a Mac from Windows. I appreciate that this poses compatibility issues, but thought I'd at least try and see if I could get one route working.

I opted for the Central Line, and all seemed to be okay. I remembered to create the 'User data' and 'Legacy content' folders, so everything has likely gone into the right places. In short, I followed all the relevant instructions.

When I load up BVE, it fully boots up with the 1992 stock cab working fine...but no route/objects. Just a grey blank over the train cab's windows.

The following messages appear on the top left hand side of the screen:

654 file(s) not found
6482 error(s), 3 warning(s)

Also...the WestinghouseATP.dll failed to load (I assume this a train related issue, rather than route).

It appears to be missing objects, but where are they?!

I used to be able to fix BVE-issues easily on Windows, although I am very lost with how to fix it on a Mac!

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

Interesting. I use a mac and I can run the Central Line pretty well despite it saying that the route isn’t compatible for Mac and Linux users. I think you could check the route .csv file open it using TextEdit and see if you have any missing folders. The objects should go in a folder called Central Line which should be placed in the folder called Object. Make sure you didn’t accidentally delete anything since you may have to reinstall it. It may also depend on the version of openBVE you use. I personally use 1.5.2.1 for the main program and 1.4.4 for the developer tools so there may be something to do with those things. Also, as a last resort contact Ad1992, he’s here on the forum and he’s the developer of the Central Line. After all it’s just a demo and there will be more to come in the final release.

Hope this helps

As I understand it Openbve never used to work on Mac, which is why I put the warning in the installation guide.
It was put there as a precaution.

If Openbve can now be run on Mac without any issues I will take the warning out in the next version of the manual.

Yes it can I am able to run the Central line with not many problems on my Mac computer. OpenBVE does work on a mac; it’s just a wrapper over the standard PC openBVE dlls and exe files. If that helps. If possible could you please try to make them a little more Mac compatible in the future? The Jubilee Line is fine but the Central Line ATP does not work at all

Hi all,

Thank you for your replies.

I have since downloaded the Jubilee Line, and that seems to be working without any glitches. My main challenge there is trying to get the train moving. I do like how you have to put some concerted effort into understanding how the 1996 stock works!

I tried your suggestions, SP1900, but no luck on the Central Line. At least I have some form of BVE working now, I was ready to call it day!

Ideally, I would quite like to install some of the routes I used to enjoy (Birmingham Cross City South etc), although might be a step too far with how things are going thus far.

I am glad you appreciate that I wanted to give people a challenge and a realistic experience. On that note the next version of the 96 will even a few more features to it which I think you will enjoy. Wink

Perhaps in the next version the code can be looked at and perhaps made available in a different format.
