Somewhat similar! I remember going to a signalbox on the north London line to sign the book but was unable to get into the box due to the door jamming solid. We both tried from each side but it wouldn't budge. In the end the signalman opened the window and said that it would be OK to return to my train and he would write it in his report.
It caused a good 6-8 minute delay to my train but how long the signalman was locked in his box I never found out! The following night when passing the box I half imagined seeing the signalman still struggling to get out!

I imagine our man at Henwick was pretty flushed when he finally got out.
