How to make paths? Empty How to make paths?

Post by Frowy Thu Mar 23, 2023 3:37 am

Hey guys. I'm brand new to modding stuff on OpenBVE and I'm trying to do something that seems simple but have no clue what I'm looking at. I'm trying to make my own... path? timetable? scenario? I have no idea what the correct name is for OpenBVE. Basically I'm trying to make my own csv file that routes the train along the path that I want for a route that I downloaded. Like I want to code a file for the start and end points I want and station stops as well, and as a bonus I'd like to code in AI trains if that's possible as well. I tried looking into other premade csv files but I have no idea what I'm looking at.

What you seem to be hinting at is that you wish to be able to create your own route. I definitely agree that when you first look at a route .csv file that it looks intimidating but the good news is that there are some guides around that can help get started with route building. Such as this one here: Wayback Machine (archive.org). A lot of routes nowadays use custom made objects but as a beginner, I recommend using objects that are already built and are available to use. You can find object folders in any existing route folder. For more detailed explanation on what the lines in the .csv file actually do, there is official documentation here: openBVE Documentation (openbve-project.net)

Adding AI trains is a relatively new thing but fortunately, an example route and train with documentation demonstrating how to set it up is available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1psm1FkpFdj76LVHJzqIjgfXhClwMHpPA/view?usp=share_link
Additionally, there is documentation for this as well found here: openBVE Documentation (openbve-project.net)
