Well, After a few missing objects problems (My fault! Didn't place the two building zips into a Buildings folder, And I had to copy the BrSema4Sigs, BrSigs and BrSigs_open folders into the Midland Suburban Line object folder) and having a quick drive of the route.....It's BRILLIANT! Amazing to see how areas I know used to look, You'd be easily forgiven for thinking the route was in the countryside at some parts Surprised

Great work! Smile

It's good... I'd wish I'd suck less at controlling an Class 108 though... completed the route with a 172 which the route uses nowadays...

I know, but it's a bit of a challenge getting to drive the 108 properly, that's part of the fun. And there's plenty for the driver to do, so it's really good on that score too.
(Confession: I have used an IE29000 to familiarise with the route)

Just got back from an evening out, had a quick look at some of the comments, the latest route file which should be finished in a couple of weeks runs from Gospel Oak to Barking and uses the class 150, which is a lot easier to drive, even for me, and by the way i couldnt even get a decent score driving the 108, and i wrote it.....It is a handful trying to keep to the speed restrictions on the gradients, even at some of the stations where there is a falling gradient, starting off without rolling back needs mastering.
But thats how it was...
I am looking forward to letting the class 37 freight route file out, i quite enjoy driving that, If Kentish Town to Barking was hard, wait till you try the Temple Mills files....If anyone belongs to any other forums, please advertise the fact that the route has been published...anyway keep up the comments....

It's an absolute delight and a real pleasure to trundle along in surroundings I was familiar with as a kid. Wonderfully authentic attention to detail. As regards the DMU, you're right, it does take a time and plenty of practice, for those of you interested, there is an "authentic" BR Black & White Training Video available for budding drivers of Class 104/108 et al.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS5xiM0LYtA

Thank you very much for making this all available to us.

Cheers,

Hi to ALL...

Thanks Gray for the PDF, I was able to use it and worked out the issues...

I used this info to install "ELR_OPEN" also...

I did use the IE29000 in AI mode... Loved the Jointed Rail sound and the
Loco rocking when stopped ...

CPU 30-35% (Quad 6600) FPS 60 locked to monitor refresh...

Very Nice Ride ..Thank You...

Ed
P.S.> anyone willing to share link to Class 108 or Class 172

There's no externals for the Class 108, but the fairly similar Class 104 on the same site does have them, so you could use that?

Thanks "thehoviskid"

I did find the Class 104 Blue Livery Pack edition and did d/l...

and you are correct it does have the external view...

I will say the manual tranmission takes some getting use to...

but makes it interesting at the same time...

Again Thanks

@CaptEd, the Class 108 doesn't have an external view, but if you go back to the website and have a look at the Class 104 there are three different external views to choose from.

Done the route familiarisation in a class 104.
This really is a lovely piece of work- beautifully depicting the era.
While the ELR is a nicely made route, the flat Fenland of Lincolnshire don't offer much in the way of scenery- whereas there is a lot to keep the driver interested here.
It's nice to see a route utilising the excellent first generation DMU models.
They are hard to drive well but, this is a good thing as it tests your skill as a driver and keeps you busy.
Despite the low speed; 45mph max; it doesn't feel slow, and it's a joy to coast along listening to the clickety clack of the rails.
Combined with the excellent sounds of the train and fantastic scenery, it makes for a truly immersive environment and you feel like you are really driving a train in that era.
Top-marks on an excellent route,
Kind regards,
Michael

thank you for your kind words Michael, so far all of the comments have been positive, I am glad you like the new route, your right about the ELR, it was my first route and once i started it i realised its limitations, but i had to finish it (2 years)....Once i finish the other few variations of this route i want to move onto a main line route...with modern signalling no less....I need to learn how it works first...I am hankering to do St Pancras to Wellingborough, cos thats as far as i ever worked on the line...or even Wellingborough to St Pancras, not sure about the dateline though.....any must get on...regards

I may sound impolite but I'm curious. Why is this download scattered into nine separate zip files? I don't even understand using three (object, route, sound) zip files for one route these days (broadband internet, great free download managers like FDM), why can't all the stuff be in one single zip file?

File size limit with the web host provider and slow/corrupted uploads for the author are some reasons I can think of.

Yep, perfectly correct, i use Just host as my web site provider, they have an upload file size limit, at present they charge £60 per year for hosting the site, as i dont use the web site for anything else other than placing the routes on, you cant blame me for not wanting to spend too much, however it comes to an end soon, have seen Grays web site, i am envious, i may well change....I hope its not too much of an inconvenience to download this way but try to understand the reason, purely economics.....
