Midland Suburban Line

Just an update, Its finished, just a few z`s to sort, testing by a couple of members, hopefully it will be on my web site by 14th September,,,,with a view to future plans a name change may be needed.....because that line was used by a number of operating companies to get from a to b the title "Midland Suburban Line" doesn`t seem right......Planned future releases are Dudden to Temple Mills yard ( under way)...Cricklewood carriage sidings to St Pancras...St Pancras to the E.R. main line.... maybe North London Lines is more appropriate,,,,suggestions accepted ......Oh yeah ....up to date route files as well....regards

Well i can offer the traction from my site,

From what I've seen it's not the kind of route for running the sort of modern era mainline stock people are talking about. I'm hoping it's a nice fit with the BVE TMD first generation DMUs....

I would say you're right there, James. The first generation DMUs would look well!

I was nearly there with a reply to the questions but the dinner gong went, she must be obeyed....Anyway where was i, oh yeah,,,This first of the series is based on a real life route which ran from Kentish Town, North London to Barking in the east of London, It was an inner London suburban route of old, mostly cuttings and viaducts...the route now runs from Gospel Oak to Barking, it is only 12 miles long but has a very changeable character as it goes along....

This first route file is based again in the early 7o`s ( says a lot about my age ), so the 108 or 101 from Martins superb site (BVETMD) is the chosen motive power...the updated route file, which involves moving a station and upgrading all of the other stations (or downgrading,which ever way you want to look at it), will be next on the agenda, better weather as well, ( all will become apparent ), the chosen motive power is to be Stephen Thomas`s class 150...( i had better learn this new fangled signalling by then ). The other idea is the class 37 on the Dudden Hill to Temple Mills route file...Lets get the first one out there, see how its received and then go from there..... hope this answers your questions....regards

The Class 27 is also appropriate for that route- a chap i know used to work them off Cricklewood on ECS workings. They finishes a little before the early 70s though.

Couldn't agree more about the choice of motive power, given the era. There is an excellent 3-part training movie on You Tube on how to drive a DMU. Some of you might have seen this before, if you haven't, it's well worth watching, if just for the "clipped" BBC tones of the narrator. Below is Part 1.
