Hi all, a word of warning about those of you running a dell computer...we all should backup our work often, but even if you do, there's no telling when you get caught out....my Dell laptop, started being silly a few days ago, eventually blue screening almost every attempt at starting...desperation set in and I decided to use the Dell local backup facility and then use the system restore disc that I made....Upon restoring the back up, to my dismay I found that none of the .CSV or b3d files were there...that does mean all of the route files, objects were lost, approx the last three months work.....gutted to say the least.....the last back up I did to my other PC was that long ago....I also found out that any program that used C++ also did not restore either, I am still trying to access the files but I am fast running out of ideas.......I was hoping publish the next route file before Xmas, but now its going to be later, much later.....regards mobile1

Ouch!!!  Sorry to hear your bad news Alan. Those files should be somewhere on the hard disk, as they were data and not program/system files - unless the disk was(re)formatted  somehow.

We KNOW we should back-up stuff, I've been caught too - just because 99% of the time we forget and nothing goes wrong. A memory stick is a lifesaver.

Hi Alan,

I too lost a lot of work done on many a route. Find a buddy and send them updates regularly.

I lost the last lot when a USB stick, one in a pack three went rogue on me. I think it is a good case for betas being out there. Get hit by bus or just walk away from the BVE community and another great work is lost forever. By the way there are videos of the line traveling in each direction, worth watching with the music turned down just to appreciate how close your work is to the real thing. Great work.

Bye for now,

Stephen.
