Re: Brno BVE Website
Also, if you have a spare second, please visit my website and vote in the poll on the homepage. It will help me to decide which direction to go in further construction.
Re: Brno BVE Website
The second tree to the right on the first picture has an annoying blue aura... I'd suggest making it smaller in height by a third at least, and/or using it further away from the track, as the texture is comparatively unsharp (or low resolved?) next to my textures.
And I like what you made of the textures I provided =) Did you "objectify" all of them already? If so, would you care to make a separate package with those trees, downloadable for other route devs to use as well? They'll all usable for all of temperate climated Europe, and some of them all over Europe and the world. If I remember correctly, you've been having a project of universal objects, didn't you? If so, the trees would be best fit there IMHO. Thank you =)
I like the rocks. It's a pity we don't have bump maps in OpenBVE, that'd be really something for the likes of big low poly rock faces...
What I'm wondering about though; did you try toning down the tunnel walls? They're way to light in my eyes. And a gradual decrease in brightness might add to the great atmosphere of your screenshots, though it probably depends on inteded passing speed whether it would be worth the effort and the file size.

Re: Brno BVE Website
You're quite right about the Betula texture - it is one of the oldest trees I have ever created for BVE (there was no openBVE in those times ). It might need some revision then. By the way - yes, I think all the textures you have sent me have been adjusted and used.
As for uploading the trees to have it downloadable for all - you have kinda beaten me to it, as this would obviously require your consent and I would have to ask you for permission. Wel, since you have expressed yourself quite clearly, I might upload those trees later today or during the night. They will be located in the "WorldWide Objects" section of my website. An announcement will be made once they are up.

As reported on my website, I am having issues with my motherboard. The PCI-E slot has failed. I am currently searching for a replacement one.

That's great to hear =)

Re: Brno BVE Website
After some stagnation, finally a new screenshot to be posted. I will reupload it to my website and link to it later. Any comments / feedback will be appreciated!
Trying to put those nice trees to a good use.
Re: Brno BVE Website
Will you upload the other ones as well? IIRC we did some more, and also you've had some you did yourself.

Ah, you're right. I thought there was something I'd forgotten to do. I will try to do it by the end of the week.
Not really a feedback to the picture, but I take it...

There's a nice swabian saying: "Not ranted is praised enough"
Nah, seriously: That screenie is really watering the appetite!

Re: Brno BVE Website
It is the way the bridge is coded. It is actualy not my work and I am not sure the author wishes his name to be published... But if you see the mesh of the bridge, you will understand.
Re: Brno BVE Website
I suppose it is about the bow being coded as a bow, which explains the good texturing? If the bow was simply a part of the big mesh, it wouldn't be possible to tile the texture on it this way, so you'd either have far worse quality or a unsensibly large texture file.

Re: Brno BVE Website
Well, some more meters past the bridge have been built... closing in on the next station!
Re: Brno BVE Website
Lookin' great! BTW, do you remember about those wrong labeled trees?

Re: Brno BVE Website
Hello guys,
finally a small update to the route. I think I might need to readjust some of the animal's dimensions, but take a look and comment, please. The full reading regarding this screenshot can be found on my blog.

Re: Brno BVE Website
Hm. Did we really get to the point where there's no feedback (neither good or bad) at all?
Thinking if I should release it then...
Re: Brno BVE Website
Well I've never really got any feedback myself.
Since the days when it was mainly all negative and based on I don't actually code!
That reduced me to avoiding Forums
It never seemed to matter how or what I made actually looked or even ran!
Thankfully I have some feedback from Martin Corbett and Tony Haylor.
Both people who I respect for their work in bve.
Although personally a lack of any feedback would not stop me producing my stuff, a lack of photo's to work with would!
So I better pop out and take a few myself!

Re: Brno BVE Website
I see your point Steve. Still, I think as long as there is at least any feedback, it shows there actually are people, who are watching the development. Even a bad feedback can be a source of inspiration, if it is put well.
I can safely say I have taken about 90% of the photos for my route myself as well, otherwise I would not get what I need. To summarize, no feedback at all suggest nobody actually cares much... which is contradictory to the website attendance figures. You would guess people will not mind dropping a line or two of their opinions.
Re: Brno BVE Website
Fascinating... In other boards it usually is rather the other way round. Devs get quite unnerved by unconstructive comments - and "good work" or "jawdropping", especially if posted after every single image, is just as unconstructive as "f*** that sh***" - 'cause it tells nothing about possible changes/corrections/...
But yeah, it is good work, and I don't have anything to criticise. Though... If you could show a screenshot with the trees better in sight, it seems to me the deciduous ones are to slender.

Re: Brno BVE Website
@Quork: Yeah, that's the difference in the (open)BVE community, most of the people know how to behave and they know how to give feedback. To be honest, you have to have something in your head (brain, nothing else) to be able to create things for this sim... and even for installing it and placing everything correctly onto your hard drive. It does not come with automated tools, all in one installation etc. I am guessing that is what is separating the real rail fans and the ones who just want everything quickly and on a plate, but with its costs on train behavior realism etc.
Re: Brno BVE Website
Right guys,
I have managed to get hold of some authentic recordings from the Brno main station. This will be a nice addition to the route I guess. :-)
