OpenBVE Low Framerate on new Laptop (8 FPS on average)
Good morning all,
I have a new Lenovo IdeaPad S340 laptop and I am struggling with less than ideal performance. I get between 3-20FPS on any route I have, right after loading a route and train I get about 8FPS. Slowdown occurs when there is more content and objects in frame. I'm using 1024x768 resolution.
Below are details of my PC:
Windows 10, 1909
_CPU_
AMD RYZEN 5 Mobile 3500U
2.1 GHz
512KB L2 Cache
4MB L3 Cache
8GB RAM
_GPU_
AMD Radeon VEGA 8 Graphics
2GB Memory

Re: OpenBVE Low Framerate on new Laptop (8 FPS on average)
First immediate thing to try is in the options, switch to the New Renderer
Other than that, it shouldn't be that slow (even on the old renderer), although you haven't given any specific examples (Some of the NYCTA stuff is an insane mess for example)
That makes me think it's something to do with the laptop itself.
First, try with it plugged in as opposed to on battery power.
Second thing is to check in the graphics control panel- It might not recognise OpenBVE as an application requiring high powered graphics.
