Trainz to msts?
i recently found out you can make msts models into bve models.... which i thought was pretty impressive and went to try it out. however i am not very expert shall we say on computers... so i left it because its a lost cause to me.
enough of my problems, is there a trainz to msts converter? i know a few people that might be able to use it. if anyone could direct me to a certain website that would be fantastic. Thanks people!

Re: Trainz to msts?
How did BVE manage the conversion? I imagine really low frame rates?

The only way to convert Trainz to MSTS it's you are the author of the job.
GMAX ... the older gmax it's a 3d program to build shapes.
But... It have two gamepacks. One to build MSTS shapes and another Trainz Shapes.
The only solution than i see it's build the shape on GMAX and export into MSTS or Trainz.
When i said (build shapes) aren't import them. You need build those shapes since scratch.
I've tested some MSTS shapes (2000 poly shape). (a detailed truck/bogie) for a 6 (car/coaches ) train and his framerate isn't good... (10fps)
PD: We have the same issue of internationalization of words (car/coaches) on Spanish language too.

Re: Trainz to msts?
Why would i need permission? I don't even know how to use the program. I know nothing about bve coding. I just know that Pioneer Trains is good . Also why did the topic get moved. Rwp should be for bve for the future. Like msts did.
I don't know. What i do know is that my good friend knows how to do this stuff. Ill ask him

Trainz is a payware game and most payware games have encrypted addons which means that you can only properly open the files if you have the original source files. Railworks is the same. Would be impossible to add a shape parser in because the files are encrypted and can’t be read under normal circumstances. Permission would definitely be needed as the original creators of the addons would not like to have their hard work taken and repurposed without them knowing especially if there is copyright involved.TheNetworkerLover wrote:Why would i need permission? By the way, the MSTS conversions that are available to the public, some can be found in the downloads section of the forum. Like BVE, frame impact will depend on how detailed the model is

I dont develop. I just play bve. Have been for a good few years. In bve 4 days there wasnt a converter. Now there is. I might leave that to somebody else to attempt.

Re: Trainz to msts?
I've been able to pull editable models out of Trainz (for science!) using 3dconverter. Some even made it into openbve for test purposes, however, wouldn't recommend it, as the result creates considerable lag (1-2 moderately detailed cars are fine, but it all goes down to 6fps when you need a consist of 6 ), I think it's because all vertex coordinates become something like 0.803783 or even 2.9986E-01 and doing rounding would create model warping or holes. Though the method is good for converting something simple or for reference.
I wonder what did you (or whoever converted that model) use for converting .s to bve formats. Have good stuff to try it with and by the way, I know of a train the same model of which appeared in MSTS, then trainz, and recently found it for openbve with a 3D cab added
