BVETube Updates and Announcements
I am pleased to announce that alongside our Metropolitan Line project, our team has recommenced work on the D78 Stock. The train will be completely reworked from the ground up from the work that had started in July 2017. This project was started by SP1900. We are also working on recovering lost BVE routes with the permission of the original creators. For example, BusheyHeath's Northern Heights route. However, I digress. This thread will focus on updates being made to the D Stock and the other priests that we have lined up. This includes the A60, my personal all time favourite train (as you can tell from my icon) and others, including a 1983 Stock, and others.
I hope you do enjoy these, once they release.

Re: BVETube Updates and Announcements
The first version of the D Stock that will be done will be the Refurbished version from the early 2000s to 2017.
Side note, the Overhaul, as a coin of phrase, no longer exists. It has evolved into BVETube itself, which aims to do everything and more, that the Overhaul aimed to do. For example, BVETube is committed to at some point developing fictional trains, routes and scenarios. This will come after all real life projects, however.

Re: BVETube Updates and Announcements
A60/62 development has been passed to me for now (I guess? from the last post in the "overhaul" thread) sounds got updated, exterior model is being worked on.
Does anyone have any data on its acceleration and braking rates? I used it from the old BVE4 version, it feels right but I'm not sure how accurate is it.
Also, did anyone had a chance of riding A60 before refurbishment? seems like motors sounded somewhat different back then.

The only real difference I believe is that the motors were a lot louder due to them being geared differently I think, it should still be the same motor type and sound.
Just take a sample from an older A stock recording and turn the volume down and muffle it for the refurb version, easy enough to do.
The acceleration certainly didn't change.
Re: BVETube Updates and Announcements
They definitely did the same thing for the C Stock when they got refurbished. They were extremely loud.

Re: BVETube Updates and Announcements
The acceleration and braking didn’t change however, before refurbishment the train was capable of reaching 70mph and later restricted to 50 after refurbishment I think. The motors were GEC type I believe, a lot like the BREL EMU trains. From various sources, including old LU Train operators who worked on the Met Line, the motors were very loud and a distinctive sound could be heard. The guy on YouTube Citytransportinfo has some good footage of riding the A stock in the 1980s especially in his A stock memories video. So yeah, the motor noise was effectively almost “cut out” during refurbishment though it was still possible to hear it sometimesDelsin wrote:Does anyone have any data on its acceleration and braking rates? The a stock was funnily enough restricted to 62 I believe. Not sure if it was after refurbishment though

Re: BVETube Updates and Announcements
I read about max 70mph when they were built and they got restricted to 50 shortly after the refurbishment. And I was asking for pre-refurb (turns out, it'll work for refurb as well) acceleration info as well
I know about these videos, used for some sounds but motors are almost always mixed with some changing noise (like joint sounds) which is barely possible to filter out without bringing in a huge distortion.

Re: BVETube Updates and Announcements
I think I managed to get one good motor sound out of one of his videos. I'm not sure how to send it for your opinion though.

Re: BVETube Updates and Announcements
Perhaps not my decision, but my team have started work on finishing a 3D model of the Class 483. Here is a photograph of progress made. What has already been done is the body. We are currently working to fix up the interior, especially modelling the seats.
You might notice an error, but that is being fixed tonight.

Re: BVETube Updates and Announcements
We are currently focusing on the Metropolitan Line route, and on the train side we are currently focusing on the 483. We are dabbling a bit into other trains too, but these aren't having much focus put on them

Re: BVETube Updates and Announcements
Well one of the guys from BVETerminus gave me the unfinished train and I felt the urge to take over development. I want to make this look as good as possible because a good route should come with a good train (in my opinion). As of now I have put my personal projects aside (though I’ll probably resume them after I finish this train) so to get this train working. I hope you don’t mind that that’s what your 483 object is being used for. Im also working on that front roof curve that the original object did not have as well as a detailed interior which I’ll try my best to doap1991 wrote:How many different projects are you working on at the moment?

Re: BVETube Updates and Announcements
Alas, that is what we are currently working on. We have half a dozen projects in terms of trains. Let's just say the team has put them 'on hold' until this train has been made up to a decent standard. That is, or at least until some decent progress has been made. I will try to post an update to the Metropolitan No 1. project very, very soon.

Error fixed. Sorry about the slightly poor image quality; Apparently, and it appears as if, Macs don't like taking screenshots.

No, I don't mind at all, I was just curious to know what you were actually working on given the various screenshots of different projects, best of luck!
Re: BVETube Updates and Announcements
Thanks!
More has been done to develop the seats, although at this stage I would not say that a screenshot is meritable. The progress made is very good; but I think we should leave it for a day or two to get peeps guessing
