Exhibition Mode
I'm new to the forums although I've been working with BVE for a while. I'm working on a project to be exhibited at a local community center, and I want it to repeat on reaching the end, automatically start AI mode, skip the menu, etc. so it can work unattended. I made these changes on a local copy of the source, but with continuing development it will make it hard to keep up.
Could we make an Exhibition Mode in OpenBVE? I can explain more and may even be able to help some (although my time and experience are both limited as I'm working on the route project too, and my changes were really just an ugly hack).

Re: Exhibition Mode
Would it not be better, for demonstration purposes, to compile a video of a suitable route?
This would be easy to play in a loop.

Re: Exhibition Mode
True, but I'm sure its addable, and it might find other usages.
I'm thinking along the lines of this:
If in exhibition mode, start in AI.
On any keypress, disable AI and put the player in control. (Probably exclude the camera keys, so you can move around viewpoints etc.)
If no keypresses are detected for ~2min (??), automatically re-enable AI.
Please elaborate a little further on exactly what you want it to do, and why a video is no good.

Re: Exhibition Mode
I could do a video. That would also speed up the rendering (no 3D). If we were to go with an exhibition mode, I would want to be able to restrict the viewer to only the cab view. (My route's not made for anything else.) They could move around as much as the cab allows, but if they got outside, they'd see the two-sided buildings, etc. that I used to avoid too large a time in making the route. Of course, this could also be done by X.org key manipulation or by hiding the keyboard and not allowing any motion. Also, I definitely do not want the viewer in control the train in this particular route.
Thanks for getting back to me. Let me know if there's anything else I can explain about it.

Re: Exhibition Mode
I also realize my ideas might be a little restrictive for inclusion in OpenBVE proper. A video may actually work better for my case, and an Exhibition Mode for other people's cases.
