Class 142 - coming soon?
Hey Everyone,
The class 142 I am working on is made from scratch and will have some scripts not made by myself the doors wont work as the coding is way to hard for them type of doors but since this is a V.01 the next version will have operating doors.
-----------------------V1.01------------------------
Working wheels
Bright lights
Announcments
four liveries(Northern, FGW, Merseyrail and Regional railways)

Could someone please explain why the hell the class 142 is so fascinating? Seems every new british dev wants to start with it. Dunno, never saw those things live and in action, but from images and videos I'd consider other british trains more interesting...

Please tell me why the ICE is so interesting to you?! Its a users choice to create what they want..
The 142/3 are old rubbish diesels but users enjoy them, some users like to go OTT and creat the "best ever OMG amazing" versions and other decide to create ones that look good and run well...
I wish you the best Of look woth your project robbin... Just a shame there are no screenies...

Nah of course, and I don't want to dictate or forbid what to build or not to build, and I'm happy about every new model for OpenBVE! I'm only curious. If we were more german modellers here, you can be pretty sure you wouldn't have three or four people modelling the same train.
And the ICE is interesting to me as it is the train I'm driving and because I liked the curvature's challenge (which I, obviously, underestimated).

I think the Class 142 is well worthy of having many versions made! It's the back bone of the north. While the south get all their fancy new electric trains we northerners make do with a simple but great bit of kit that works!
Oh an robbie, the doors can, and have been animated on the recent class 143 by Steve Thomas at Bve4Trains

*alarmed* you mean an ICE T cab? I'd say we should talk. Doing the work twice is in this case too much in my eyes, but I'm planning the same (mesh-wise it is in big parts identic between T and 3).mrknowitall wrote:I myself do like it, and i do t class mysepf as amature, but even i wouldnt atteMpt such a train cause its such a challenge mesh wise but each to there own eh

Re: Class 142 - coming soon?
Thread cleansed and moved in here, since I do not see any announcement made. It is just talking about releasing a train (some day). To be honest, it is true, we have already seen a truckload of such topics with no practical evidence (screenshots) to prove the words something is being worked on. So, Robby, if you have something, show us, if you need to ask, do so. But do not even try to plagiarize and do not promise anything you are not sure you can achieve.
Each one of us started somewhere, and there were always guys, who were able to help. But you won't make them help by throwing promises around and/or taking their work and claiming it is your own.

It's fascinating because it actually got made in the first place!
In the old days of BVE4, it was all about the high speed and modern stock - but now people are producing various different sprinters and pacers - but then I imagine that's because everything else has been covered.
Perhaps we need to start improving the TGV or ICE or some of the RENFE trains?

TGV: http://wiki.bve-routes.com/index.php/Ligne_%C3%A0_grande_vitesse_-_SEA
Quite good actually. Signalling systems seem properly simulated with a good looking fictional route.
I'm more into LU routes and Southern Region 3rd rail routes...

Re: Class 142 - coming soon?
Are you sure you've started from the right thing for the interior- looks more like a 143/144
than a 142
Setting that aside, it looks like what you're aiming it to look like, so keep up the tinkering

Re: Class 142 - coming soon?
Judging by that screenshot, this looks to me like this is infact Steve Thomas's 143, and not anything you have made like you appear to be saying. Now look, some decent people have provided you with guides to get started, but from what I can see, you seem to have overlooked the guides and just (possibly) passed someone else's work off as your own. How do I know; 142 units do not have that type of seating, and furthermore compare that object with this screenshot taken from Steve's 2011 blog: https://sites.google.com/a/bve4trains.com/bve4trains/_/rsrc/1315945697850/steve-s-blog/OpenBve%202011-09-12%2016-42-54-68.jpg
You'll notice the main mesh and in particular the ceiling texture are identical in both.

Re: Class 142 - coming soon?
Well my point wasn't really the seats - it was that I believe that you may be passing the 143 by Steve T off as your own 142, even after I've provided a picture to back up my beliefs.
