Raildriver? Will it work?
Hi guys,
I really like the look of the Raildriver unit and was thinking of purchasing one. However upon reading several posts from as far back as 2002, it seems like this unit doesn't seem to like BVE. But what I really wanted to know is does it work with openbve after some tampering around. When you plug this into your computer does openbve recognise it as something like a joystick? What you can then put an axis command on one of the handles. I will only be using this to drive London Underground trains and therefore will only require one handle. Is it possible to do this? Put an axis on literally one of the handles in order to drive a train? So that power and braking is all controlled from one handle? Also is it possible to designate the buttons at the bottom to open and close doors etc? My laptop is only 2ghz and therefore openbve is literally the only train simulation program I can play on so if it doesn't work with any form of bve it would not be worth it for me to buy one of these. Please help!
Many thanks.

Re: Raildriver? Will it work?
Sir Jack,
This question has before been asked; see http://forums.atomic-systems.com/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=99819
Wikipedia falsely notes RailDriver as compatible with BVE TrainSim; see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RailDriver
and http://www.raildriver.com/support and http://www.raildriver.com/support/downloads.php
RailDriver/PI Engineering recognizes BVE/openBVE as a train sim, though not enough market to justify developing software; see http://www.raildriver.com/resources/community.php#bve
Good day and night for you.

RailDriver4OpenBve
Dear all,
I was also interested by using RailDriver Desktop Train Cab Controller from P.I. Engineering and I've just developed a "workaround" in order to make it recognized by OpenBve as a "normal" joystick. Please see https://sites.google.com/site/raildriver4openbve/ for more details.
This piece of software is still in beta version and your feed-back is highly welcome !
Kind regards.

Sir jb69,
Yes this is great good news to make openBVE more popularized!
I am sad though, I do not own the console raildriver and my wife has no money tolerance for games.

Re: Raildriver? Will it work?
Thank you so much jb69
I did get the RD Unit but can only drive an extremely limited number of trains on MSTS without a very large amount of modification so this is great news going to try it tonight and will Let you know how it is.
Thanks again!

Try this build:
https://vps.bvecornwall.co.uk/OpenBVE/Builds/OpenBVE-2018-01-11.zip
I have fixed an issue with joysticks very recently, and that might help.
Mine appears to work OK though.

Raildriver with 1.5.2.3
I can not calibrate. There are 5 stages, but with raildriver there are only 3 visible and 7 of the brakes are 4 and the brake can not be released completely. It does not work, it should calibrate. Many thanks.

Re: Raildriver? Will it work?
Will take a look.
Are you aware you need to assign it to a control (just like any other joystick)?
It doesn't automatically do anything

Raildriver error
Thank you, I set it up, It looks like the raildriver works, but the older open bve used the config.dat file to fine-tune its operation, now it does not use it so it does not work in full, it really can not play it.
