Class 442 as Gatwick Express trains
I recently travelled on a 442 on the Gatwick Express service and have to say these trains are completely inadequate for the job.
Number one the single leaf doors are completely useless when trying to get all your luggage on. They don't feel refurbished. They still have a huge guards area for some reason; and the luggage racks are normal sized. why they replaced a proper airport train with something completely inappropriate I don't know!
I'm not dissing the 442 as a train, just in this role.

Hmm, although all the 442's are in service, on the way home on Fridays, i still see that rare 460 around, thought they were all at the scrapyard by now
