SDL cant launch my video sub system???

hi there im back on the bve after missing you lot i have all the trains and the new version on my netbook but when i go too start driving after slecting my route and train sdl says cant launch my video sub system can any one help?????

What is your graphic card, Cris? Try downloading the newest drivers and make sure you have .NET framework version 4 installed.

hi there i have a standard intel graphics card an intel graphics and have dowloaded net framework 4 also the latest drivers but still not working

The error means that for some reason 3D window cannot be created because SDL isn't able to initialise for some reason, why I don't know. I can't see anything that says it's incompatible with intel graphics.

In settings, are your full-screen/window size bigger than your screen?

Is that the usual cause of this problem?

If so it's really a serious bug in openBVE, letting you set the game window size bigger than the size that windows has set for the screen. I guess windows reports this to SDL thus causing this error, even if you've told openBVE to use window size that your monitor supports.

it now loads but openbve crashes do you think i need a more powerfull laptop you guys recon ????

What are the system specs of yours?

Intel on-board graphics is going to be the "Weakest Link" You may find it impossible to run with it.

Might, but needn't. Gray, I'm getting 30fps on the whole of BWR on my yeaaars old acer Extensa 5620 with Intel onboard graphics. And Brno First Track is the only route I ever found I couldn't run due to too low fps

Hm. Looks I really have some work to do there... I am trying to find potentially demanding parts and make them more fps friendly. But it is hell... I am also trying a whol new concept, so... we will see what it brings.

Well, First Brno is simply a very demanding route, with totally new abundance of details, objects, "gimmicks". It's not really surprising for me that it is also very much demanding. A "LQ"-version for weaker computers would be nice of course, but lowering the quality of the existing route just to make it run on computers not intended to run such things would be the wrong way in my eyes. I mean, look how many people are able to run it; the route isn't way ahead of its time in technical requirements, rather some computers are behind their time. A five year old non-gamer laptop with Intel onboard graphics surely is.

I'm not sure if this will help but it won't hurt. Did you install OpenAL? You have to have it installed to run the program.

Unlikely, but not impossible. As few people seam to have these issues.

Got a new TV for Christmas and interlinked the computer to it using it as a 2nd moniter if required. This, however, changed the screen resolution for me and the only one I forgot to change was OpenBVE. Lo and behold today I come onto the site because I could not run because of SDL failed etc.
Glad I did because the first problem that caught my eye was this item. Thanks guys, all running perfectly now.
