Parallel Running and First Train handling Empty Parallel Running and First Train handling

Many over years of travelling and being a train driver. The first ever time of handling a train is never forgotten. Mine was with a freight train on the long defunct Royal Deeside branch to Ballater from Aberdeen.

A fantastic experience is the times when driving an express train on a four track railway and running side by side with another express at 100 mph in the same direction and where one train has to come to a stand at the next junction or station, or when the two trains divert to separte routes. Quite exiting.

First TGV ride from Paris to Lyon in the 80's.
