Jury Service questions...
Well Im jsut wondering if anyone here has ever served as part of a jury in the UK.
I ahve been called for jury service, and as a result of the 2 "abotu jury service" leaflets they have posted, I'm totally confused about a few things...
Mainly, the first leaflet says I will serve one case, which MAY last up to two weeks.
The second leaflet says I will serve for 2 weeks, and MAY serve a number of cases.
Any ideas which one is correct? Due to what time I need off from work etc.

Plead insanity. They might believe you and let you off. Either way you are looking at two weeks off work according to the leaflets. A single two-week case would be quite a big job.
Re: Jury Service questions...
You could be used on 1, none or many cases depends, you may not even be required for the full 2 weeks depending on the case load of the court. When I did it I was only needed for 1 week and then didn't get used as the only case I was selected for the guy pleaded guilty.
Remember if your boss wont pay you to get them to fill in the form so you can claim the allowance, not that it will be anything like your wage. Also you can claim an allowance for lunch and your train or bus fares just keep your tickets

Thanks Andy. I had my manager fill out the pay claim sheet today.
And Im aware about claiming back my pay and travel expenses etc.
I was just wondering, do I inform work it is 2 weeks, or what?
As I have to book it 3 weeks in advance, due to them getting cover for me.

It's usually 2 weeks, so unless your summons says otherwise I'd tell work that it will be for 2 weeks. However it could be shorter or longer you wont know that until you turn up, but if the case is due to be a long one they'll give you the chance to object.

The longer the better my friend.
It can't be any worse than work!

That's for Scotland though... They have their own politics and legal systems...
