Help with BVE file format

Hi Guys
I suppose you could call me a newbie, as I last logged on in Nov 2012.
Since that time much has happened in my life, (not least becoming the wrong side of 80) and i would like to get back into the world of BVE.
I need help in getting my Win 10 Pc set up again to run, in particular, my local route, the NWM Redditch to Sutton line with the Class323 trains.
I have managed to download the files that i think i need but the program fails to run, i think because the file system/format is not correct.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, to start again and download All the files that I need and show me the correct file structure, to achieve a working program.
