new user to openbve
Hi, my name is jim. I am new to openbve and having trouble starting up the simulator program.
I have downloaded openbve, using windows 10. I don't understand the process of how to place the trains and routes in their respective folders. Is there a link/documentation on how to setup openbve. I tried a number of ways, and keep getting and error message, "Underhanded windows form exception". Can anyone help/ advise would be appreciated.
Thank you

Re: new user to openbve
When placing routes and trains you might find everything you need to know on this site.
http://openbve-project.net/
The "package mangement" feature of the v1.5 program makes installing routes and trains a breeze!
Although since it's new not all stuff is yet "package management" compliant yet.
"Newbies" (and a few older-bies too) sometimes muck-up with the incorrect folder structure - 90% of "won't work"s are caused by this. Whatever version of OpenBVE you are using, read THIS first: http://openbve-project.net/install-addons/

Re: new user to openbve
Thanks Graymac
I've just pushed a new version ot the site, which I believe fixes the crash you're seeing in the main menu, sorry for the trouble
(Unfortunately, this only happens on Windows 10, hence why I hadn't caught it before....)
For installing older addons, Anthony Bowden has a very good guide with pictures on his site here:
http://railsimroutes.net/openbve/openbve_windows_1.php
My page for installing older addons probably needs to be expanded a little, another thing for the ever-expanding list.....

Re: new user to openbve
Tried the above suggestions with no success. Keep getting "unhandeled windows form exception" error.
When I startup the simulator the route and train folders are empty. I download trains and route addons, un zip them and move them into the correct folder.
When I click on the train folder I get the Windows error .
Any suggestions?
Thank You

Really sorry, this was my fault.
Please try re-downloading and reinstalling again, and hopefully this issue should now be fixed.
(The Windows installer accidentally missed out a critical file....)
Cheers

Sir Chris
I did find the problem of the trains with plugin old of OS1_ATS not operating correct.
Until todays new version, now they do operate correctly now in this 20 December version.
They do also load very quick. This is good!
Good day and night for you.
