First Great Western class 143
I've been working on a small route recently that requires a FGW class 143 passing train object, so I've decided to release it in advance of the route.
Download can be found here - http://branchlinebve.comeze.com/ (hopefully this works!)
I'm aware Steve from BVE 4 Trains has already made a FGW 143 external and this is not designed as a replacement, it's very low res compared to Steves excellent exterior, it's designed to be a passing train/external object for lower performance PC's.
Any feedback welcome.
Adam
*edit - fixed the link

Re: First Great Western class 143
Looks alright in that screenshot! It's good to have some items that don't need a supercomputer to run them. I know there's plenty of users with relatively modest PCs or laptops even who want to run the sim.
Re: First Great Western class 143
Thanks, Graymac, the train its self is based on a class 144 object I made almost 5 years ago from photos taken on a mobile phone (as you can probably tell from the screenshot!) but it's been almost totally rebuilt!
Re: First Great Western class 143
Getting suitable pics to use for building rolling stock is always the worst part of the job. Safe, legitimate access to trains is often difficult especially in the UK. I can see the textures have been derived from slightly poorer definition images than you might have wished for, considering that it's quite good.
Re: First Great Western class 143
Yeah, I agree, I find making a texture out of several different photos is the easiest option, the 143 was made out of 4 different side on photos.

They look nice as a pair. I do believe I recognise the hand of Dennis Lance in that scenery

Yeah sorry, I read your original post wrong, I thought you meant the download link didn't work.

Some items belong to the great Mr Lance, though edited/butchered by myself, I'll post some screenshots of the route it's self when it's in a more finished state.
Re: First Great Western class 143
Look forward to seeing that. Pity Mr Lance isn't still making stuff, he did a great route and his tutorial is still the best way to get anyone with an interest started. I'm glad I did.

Agreed, his tutorial taught me to code a route nearly 6 years ago, i'm only just getting back into BVE so I'm still referring to it now to remind myself what I'm doing!
Re: First Great Western class 143
Good to see you returning to the work. I don't know if you have the "official" documentation? If not you can get a copy of it here: http://celtictrainsim.com/ctsdownloads/resourcestuff/documentation.7z
I printed it all out for my own use and keep it nearby at all times. There's always something will need checking, you can't remember it all!
