Alright, got it now. Smile  Recent AMD's are actually not that bad, but still no competition to higher class i5, not even mentioning i7. AMD has one interesting attribute, though, it can combine and sum the performance of the graphic chip integrated on the CPU with the external GPU on a separate card. Intel cannot do that with nVidia, which is a pity. Razz

So yes, the vsync did the trick. I have maxed the settings out - 16 for anisotrope filtering, MFAA on, gamma correction on, Supersampling 8x, FXAA on.
My PC is Core i5 4690 + GTX 970 + 8GB RAM.
My fps (for reference are) the following:
Brno - 105 fps
Senice - 237 fps
Vranov Jih - 143 fps
Vranov - 145 fps
Lipnice - 61 fps
Lipnice Haje -65 fps
Deblin - 95 fps
It tells me more than you think, I know where to look at next. :-)

With AMD CPU's they use more power than Intel, at least between the ones I checked. And also the value for money for AMD was quite bad because with the AMD at a similar price to the i5 I was after, it only had the graphical performance of a i3.

I did a little digging to see if I could make your FPS killer bushes a little better today.
The biggest culprit turns out to be the use of the Rotate function in your animated files, which is being evaluated once a frame, even though it's a static result.

My most recent nightlies (2016-05-11 onwards) contain a patch which on my machine boosts the FPS where these are used by 50% Smile
This means that it jumps from 45-48 FPS at track position ~9100 (With the killer bushes) to 65-70 FPS.
Other locations on the route see some decent jumps, but not quite as spectacular.

(Note: Testing on the version of the route before you started optimising)

The effect of this patch will vary considerably based upon the number of animated objects in use, and whether any static rotation values have been used, but I'm quite pleased with that little find.

Cheers

Hello everyone,

I have just uploaded a new version of class 163 to go with the route. It has got a brand new undercarriage (or whatever it is called these days) and revolving bogies as well. Find it HERE

Haven't played the sim in quite some time, there's just enough real trains in my job 😅 But once this route is finished, I'm definitely checking it out 🖤 Looking forward to it, might very well become the most photorealistic route in the bve universe

I have been playing around with the footbridge recently... since we have got GL 3.0 renderer now.
1 ) Yes, the handrail is fully 3D
2) Yes, it took a lot of time
3) Yes, all the textres are photorealistic now

How do you like it?

I will shgare a screen from the route later, maybe tomorrow. I am quite tired already... but yes, I was able to use it in the route. It has replaced the old footbridge in Senice, Vranov-jih.

Some time has passed by and I am slowly working on something that could see the light of the day later this year. As for now, I cannot really promise any new mileage, rather a revamp of something that has been done before and deserves a new coat. We will see where that takes me afterwards. :-)

Hi guys,

I have been slown down by covid in the last week (yep, gone through it, and still here I am), but in the meantime, things have been moving forwards. I took this as an opportunity to redo stuff and refresh my knowledge for the new route.

Wow, this thread is old and untouched for some time.  Laughing
Anyway, I have been playing around for a bit now, still need to figure some stuff out (it has been a very long pause as you might have noticed), but some things are getting along nicely.

I have decided to to test the new render and it's coping quite well up until now. We shall see where its limits are... the poles are proving to be quite challenging (they are 3D and not fully finished yet).
