Found great video from the 1950's

Apart from being partially biased by a nearly religious capitalistic fanatism, it's a great movie about the importance of the railways (or "railroads" as they call it over there) for the whole economy and society of the US.

Thanks for that Quork - a real product of its time (and a steam loco gets a look in as well!).

Fascinating stuff. Thanks for sharing. American railways went into serious decline at around the time this video was produced. The travelling mail facilities mentioned were withdrawn from trains and many routes and rolling stock removed as car ownership and road development increased, not to mention air travel. A familiar story really. The film was made to bolster support perhaps?
