Animating doors
I'm trying to code in the doors, but im having a problem coding them in. This is due to the graphics driver that I have.

Actually not necessarily - I have seen some older graphic cards, that have serious trouble animating anything in openBVE. The thing is it could be a driver problem as well as the graphic card itself issue. That's why I am asking...
Re: Animating doors
If it's really the problem of the graphics card, it would be totally impossible to run openBVE at first, not to say making animated doors.

Re: Animating doors
For example on my older PC I was able to run openBVE, but random textures were displayed as white rectanges.

When ErrorMacro11 wrote this, we will assume that any other things in openBVE is working properly, that implies that the display card is already capable of running openBVE normally.ErrorMacro11 wrote:I'm trying to code in the doors, but im maving a problem coding them in.

It would be better if you spoke for yourself. I rather make clarification right at the start than making unfounded conclusions. You might be right, of course, but there is nothing that supports you theory yet.
Re: Animating doors
im sorry but this topic is much more aggressive than it needs to be.
To the poster, this IS NOT a graphics card error. This is actually a fault with you, or your coding.
Im sorry to sound rude but you seem new, so you may not even be up to scratch to code, let alone giving animated coding a go, id suggest explaining in greater detail and show any error messages you encounter.

its the graphics driver. it lags on objectviewer, which prevents me from coding the doors in
whenever i try to animate the doors on the TU Rocket Car or any other Train. Objectviewer gives me an intense lag, strangely, openbve runs fine

Re: Animating doors
'cause I get more FPS in openbve than in objectviewer

Re: Animating doors
Well to put it this way, openbve and objectviewer parses files differently, what may lag in objectviewer may be different in the main program.

Re: Animating doors
You cannot use object viewer to test animations properly. There is no provision to activate the conditions which trigger the animation. I have animated signals, crossing gates and train doors and the only program of any use to test functions satisfactorily is the OpenBVE program itself. Using a short and simplified route for the purpose.

Re: Animating doors
@Wongie2009 This is sometimes not the case. When I log in some programs already run, these include Skype, Utorrent etc and these use up ram space. Im updating mine to 4GB andso loading will be much quicker.

Re: Animating doors
Don't tell me that you try to press F5 in Object Viewer to "open the doors" because F5 in Object Viewer acts as the "Reload" option rather than operating doors. The "Reload" function reloads the object from your hard disk which cause "the intense lag".ErrorMacro11 wrote:mrknowitall wrote:im sorry but this topic is much more aggressive than it needs to be.

And I believe others has already pointed out that you cannot test door animations in Object Viewer.
So as I said, this is not a graphics card error.

Re: Animating doors
its not that i try to animate the doors, im trying to place the doors in.
but i cant correctly place the doors due to lag in objectviewer
if i add the doors on objectviewer with the train, it will lag

Re: Animating doors
I have never had any problem with opening multiple objects files in object viewer. For the purpose of visualising the doors in the car body shell I have had the car file and four door files loaded (using F7) without any trouble at all, and that is on an old Pentium machine.
There is no intrinsic fault with the program that can cause the difficulty described, so I really don't know what is happening there.

Re: Animating doors
could i give the files to somebody

Re: Animating doors
Try looking at some examples of built trains with doors. You may discover what is wrong that way. It isn't fair to expect someone else to do your work for you. We all have to learn, and sometimes it can be tough going. Looking at working examples does often help.
