Would it be possible to move this away from the page selection as on a phone it is very easy to click on watch a topic rather than the next page?

Yep, depends on your settings. You can set you automatically start watching any topic when you reply in it. Go to profile -> preferences and move the selection at always notify me about replies to no. Then you'll be fine.

Glad to help - I actually think it was this setting that was spamming your email...
