Re: Customized loading screen downloads
And a question on the OBVE site about the train shown while the program loads made me curious about customising the screen. Here's the result:
which at least gives an indication of what will eventually appear!! A copy in png format is here for Ballyfeckin fans who want it. It replaces the original in the OpenBVE\Data\In-game folder.

Re: Customized loading screen downloads
I was going to explain that to you via PM on here about changing the loading screen. you can also change the font, description and language in that folder too! looks brilliant mate!
Maybe there should be a thread for loading screens of different class and types of trains ?

Re: Customized loading screen downloads
Perhaps Derryck might move it to a slot in the downloads? Then anyone else can add their own favourites later.
Re: Customized loading screen downloads
Would you be able to post a mini tutorial gray?
Tried following the instructions you gave on the OBVE forums but had trouble knocking the background out of the old loading screen to put on the new image.

A good old (?) 22K - just the thing to spend an hour or two in (driving - those seats are far, far more comfortable than the 'Premier Class' seats)

Customized loading screen downloads
@hurricane We better make the most of those 22000s - it's gonna be a long time before we will be able to afford new trains after all the shyte the banks and govt have landed us in!!
@rachelberry I don't know what photo editor you use. I described how I used an old version of Photoshop 5.0 LE (which is a cut down version but very adequate for all the BVE objects I make). I assume you have and know how to use a photo editor which can work with layers. If not then you will be unable to do what I described. There are also logos to download on the official OpenBVE site, they still ned editing but may be cleaner to work on than the Japanese train background. There are tips for Photoshop techniques on the web, it would take me more time than I have available to start producing tutorials for it, sorry about that.

Re: Customized loading screen downloads
All good for a bit of variety. Any of the available OBVE logos seem to look OK.
If there is one thing i might suggest? The original Japanese pic had low contrast, it wasn't so obvious the image had been inverted. Your "negatives" are very contrasty by comparison.
Interesting to play with though

Re: Customized loading screen downloads
Images need to be sized to 1024x1024 pixels in .png format to be uses as loading screen pictures
Re: Customized loading screen downloads
Alright, seems I missed something^^ And having stupidly not saved the cpt files, I'll have to remake those from scratch some time. Thanks for pointing it out!

Re: Customized loading screen downloads
I haven't actually tried using non- >2 images in other file formats, they possibly MIGHT work, but not necessarily with EVERY sort of graphic card. The 1024x1025 .png is guaranteed to work.
Re: Customized loading screen downloads
Thought I'd do mine, although I guess doing close-up photos wasn't a good idea, at least for this one.
To be distinct, Michelle only added inverse in some specific areas or none at all.
Had it wouldn't have been desaturated, then it would be easier to tell.

I think these are a brilliant idea, again adding another new fresh idea to the sim to stop it from grinding to a halt and never restarting again. This is maybe something we can start to build a bank up of, and offer them as downloads.

Re: Customized loading screen downloads
It makes a nice customising touch. I like to see an Irish train as my route loads, not some urban rattler or (godsforbid!) a crappy old brit virgin, and each and every one of us have our special favourites, so why not?
Re: Customized loading screen downloads
If everyone wants this to be a downloadable content, i will create a section on the verified downloads and move posts over, and rename and move this to the station pub for people to comment on

Re: Customized loading screen downloads
Luckily Jeff, Yours is just one opinion. I Only suggested this as now more than one person has asked for it to be done.

Re: Customized loading screen downloads
I think someone has already mentioned adding the ability to define the loading screen in the route file. I think that would be cool.
Re: Customized loading screen downloads
Yes, I know, Derryck. What I mean would be a new feature of OpenBVE, each route could define its own loading screen, similarly to MSTS.

Ah, now I see what you mean. That would not be bad, you're correct.
