Extra joystick problem
All I have is a RailDriver plugged in. In the Customize controls page, I see 5 extra joysticks. A lot of times, another extra joystick is shown or an extra joystick is removed which makes me re-assign my RailDriver every single time this happens. Is there any way that I can remove those extra joysticks? Why is that even happening?

Re: Extra joystick problem
That's something we haven't seen before.
Do these only appear when the RailDriver is plugged in, or are they there when it's absent as well?
I don't recognise the number of axis as anything either; Have you got anything such as wireless keyboards/ mice or Xbox recievers etc. plugged in?

They are there when the RailDriver is absent as well. I do have a wireless mouse connected through Bluetooth. I have a Surface Pro 4 with a fingerprint type cover connected to a Surface Dock connected to a Dell p2415q 4K 24-inch monitor with a USB 3.0 hub.

Re: Extra joystick problem
Hmm
I'd guess (only a guess) that the Surface and potentially the type cover / dock have some extra sensors in there that OpenTK (the backend library) is misinterpreting as a joystick.
Without one to hand, I dunno how much I can do, but we ought to be able at least to kerp the RailDriver assigned correctly.
I'll think about it and get back to you

This build makes some tweaking to the RailDriver handling.
It should now work whichever joystick number it is, which ought to solve your problem. It's also now recognised as a specific type in the options

Re: Extra joystick problem
When is this build going to be in the stable version of OpenBVE?

Re: Extra joystick problem
If it's important to you, I can push out a build sometime next week, but these work just as well as the standard ones, which just really get published to the main site with major changes, so about once a month or so
No other major changes at the moment mind!

Re: Extra joystick problem
How do I install the zip file over my existing OpenBVE installation? Can you please give me the fix in a .exe?

Re: Extra joystick problem
I just updated OpenBVE to version 1.5.3.3 and my Raildriver doesn't work at all now. The zip file OpenBVE build did the same thing so I went back to version 1.5.3.2 and thinking that when version 1.5.3.3 comes out that the Raildriver would start to work again and the extra joystick issue being fixed but no. My Raildriver is useless with version 1.5.3.3.

Re: Extra joystick problem
Maybe it’s best to stick with an older version. Many things don’t work so well on newer versions of BVE. But then I guess you should use the version that suits you most

That's interesting
My RailDriver works just fine here on a couple of different boxes. I'd assumed from your post that the zip file worked OK.
Please try re-configuring your control setup with 1.5.3.3, and let me know the results.
After doing this, in Options, the control method should show as RailDriver, not joystick. (It should have automatically picked this up and changed it, but I'm wondering if it didn't)
Without a Surface Pro 4 to test though, I'm a little limited.

Re: Extra joystick problem
Again, please try re-configuring your controls in the most recent build.
Your image shows that you have not done this.
In the last column, it should now read (for example): RailDriver, button 14 or RailDriver, axis 3, negative direction
Edit:
This build now uses the 'correct' axis names for the RailDriver, as that seemed like a sensible change:

Re: Extra joystick problem
Is Throttle the brake and DYN brake the power or the other way around? I wish there would be some raildriver.controls file integrated in OpenBVE to do this?

Oops, typo...
Will fix that one.
Re: Extra joystick problem
What's the typo?
Can you please implement a RailDriver.controls file in OpenBVE?

The fact that axis #3 is the auto-brake, not power., & that axis 4 is the independant brake. (Well at least going by the stickers, which is what I hope people will be looking at....)
Will think about the best assignments and try and implement a controls file, but there's no way at the minute to set these for new users by default.
