openBVE Constant speed
Hi,
Does the constant speed function work correctly in openBVE?
I've tried different trains but it doesn't work like in BVE2.

Re: openBVE Constant speed
Hello Jorge,
depends on if you are trying to develop a train, or if you are a user, who drives it. If I am not mistaking, the constant speed key can be set when programming a cab.
Re: openBVE Constant speed
Hello Dexter,
I've modified the train.dat file and activated the constant speed device, the problem is that when I'm driving the train, the constant speed doesn't hold the desired speed, the train continues accelerating.

This happens when I drive the train on level track.

Re: openBVE Constant speed
Hi,
I've tried one of Manuel's high speed trains and the constant speed device works perfectly.
It is clear now that the problems I had were due to the BVE2 trains I used, not the openBVE simulator.

Re: openBVE Constant speed
Hi,
I've found a way to make BVE2 trains constant speed function work properly. In order to work you need to set all the cars of the train as motor cars. For example, if you have a train with 6 motor cars and 4 trailer cars, you need to change it to 10 motor cars. The hold brake function will also work correctly.
However, setting all the train cars as motor cars may have some disadvantages.

Is it? I'm turning Constant Speed function by just decreasing the power notch to lower, and press (by default) Backspace key, and it holds.
This function shouldn't be affected by how many motor cars does your train consist have, isn't it?
Re: openBVE Constant speed
Yes, some trains aren't affected by the number of motor cars. For example, the high speed trains from Manuel aren't affected by this problem and some of them have 2 motor cars and 8 trailer cars. They work perfectly. This is not the case with BVE2 trains, if you select const speed the train will not hold the desired speed as long as it has all the cars set as motor cars. There are also other motor and trailer combinations which work correctly.
If you want to try some BVE2 trains with this behaviour tell me, I can tell you which ones to download.
