CDMPJ London Underground routes v2 (OpenBVE)
Hi all,
Those that remember me from the early days of BVE / OpenBVE before my world was thrown inside out through serious illness, I had a few projects slowly simmering away.
To compound things the PC I was using died when I was in hospital and all files that could be retrieved are on a large external HDD, though with new 'recovered' names. I have been working my way through these files and it has slowly filled in bits of my memory that unbeknowns to me were missing.
I am working on one such project now that I was originally involved with but it has been developed way passed its original form. I hope to be in a position to post some pictures up online shortly.
Bye for now,
Stephen.
PS It is still not a Welsh route.

Well, never mind it's not from the land of song! Congrats on getting something creative out of the wreckage of the past, looking forward to seeing it and good luck with the recovery of the work and also your health.
Llechyd da!
Re: CDMPJ London Underground routes v2 (OpenBVE)
Hi all,
Firstly I have been busily updating the 'Lul_rails' set to improve the looks, it is a work in progress and will be available from somewhere or someone soon.
The original set had a few errors in them and due for a bit of a tart up. I made these many years ago when I was part of the London Underground team that made a few of the earlier routes.
Some generic screenshots will appear shortly.

Stephen.

Was it you on the original OpenBVE forum who mentioned an unreleased Piccadilly that went all the way from Ravenscourt Park to Cockfosters?

Hi,
Yes that was me but I still have not been able to contact Tom Beevers with regards to his wishes regarding his route.
I am not going to ever release anything unless permission has been granted by all involved.
Working on 'Lul_rails' is enough to start with, then we'll see where it goes from there.
Bye for now,
Stephen.

Hi all,
The work on the LUL_rails is still going ahead, and will be released for all to use.
I have not heard from anyone so looks like I will have to do it all over again, well nothing like practice to makeperfect improvements.
Here is a screenie from one of the lines I'm working on. These were created originally by Paul Jobber and along with a team of others including myself, the Circle, District and Metropolitan Lines (a modification by myself many moons ago).

Re: CDMPJ London Underground routes v2 (OpenBVE)
Stephen if I have one request, its that you please do not make this for OpenBVE. BVE4 is such a better program on all levels.

Why not make the version the author would like? There are some people, who have difficulties running BVE4 (regional settings, OS version)...
Re: CDMPJ London Underground routes v2 (OpenBVE)
Hi,
This and other LU routes are already available for BVE 2 and 4, so it will be for OpenBVE. If I was to move forward it would be for BVETS (BVE5) but would a big project, as I only have OpenBVE and BVETS installed on my machines. Sorry but BVE 2 and 4 are legacy now and really it would be like developing for Windows 2000 (or even worse Vista).
The work on the routes is secondary to releasing a LUL_rails for OpenBVE with a graphical improvements. Also using the process to relearn route building skills.

Hi all,
Tonight's project was to look at making curved tunnel pieces. I can report it is worth the effort so I will continue with the process and again these will become readily available for all to use once finshed.
Bye for now,
Stephen.
PS Off into the country side this week to visit our freight operators and ride / watch trains.

Re: CDMPJ London Underground routes v2 (OpenBVE)
Looking well so far, Stephen. Of course you are absolutely right that it would be a leap backwards to build for bve4. Anyway, the superior graphic rendering of OpenBVE is the accepted standard for users now, the old bve4 rendering won't do justice to your work, or bring out the best features.
That's why I dropped any further bve4 development ages ago.
** And Vista, even the thought of it, brings me out in a cold sweat of terror. Aaargh!!!!

Yes, it's shaping up nicely. Hopefully you'll be able to continue the good work done so far.
Vista was Microsoft shooting itself to a foot. 7, however, is a good system to work with.graymac wrote:** And Vista, even the thought of it, brings me out in a cold sweat of terror. Aaargh!!!!

Re: CDMPJ London Underground routes v2 (OpenBVE)
Hi all,
One last screenie for a while for two reason, one don't want to flood the Forum with unwanted pics and two I'm off into the field to meet up with customers. The 3G coverage is naff out there and I don't know how much spare time I will get.
This one is of the approach to Farringdon. The main retaining walls are left over from Paul Jobber's route and they will get the 3D treatment soon.
To get the ceiling looking right with bricks, I actually had to resort to maths to make the coverage look right and evenly spread out.
Bye for now,
Stephen.

That's pure dedication! You succeeded in doing it well, the texture is nicely distributed across the faces.
Good luck in the field, don't tread in anything nasty.

Re: CDMPJ London Underground routes v2 (OpenBVE)
Hi all,
Not much progress of late with work getting in the way.
I am taking an early BVE2 route and making it a bit nicer on the eyes and OpenBVE compatiable. Here is a pic of some of the walls getting some depth to them.

Hi absurd, welcome to the forum.
Just a quick thing to note, it isn't recommended to ask for routes or trains to respect the developers. Second this isn't relevant to the Topic so if you PM one of us im sure we can help.
If you have any trouble, give us a shout.

Re: CDMPJ London Underground routes v2 (OpenBVE)
Hi all,
Been real busy at work of late but strange the current government doesn't see a need for my role in the new structure? So unless I apply and get a job I will end my career in the railways when RailCorp ends on 30/06/2013.
I have had some time on the journey to / from work to get another 3D wall done, this time for Barbican.
Bye for now,

Re: CDMPJ London Underground routes v2 (OpenBVE)
All credit to you Stephen for persevering with your LUL creation despite the uncertainty regarding your job. Anybody that can create a 3D wall whilst on his way to work shows real dedication. I wish you well, and am closely following your work with interest. Well done, mate.
