BVE5 installation problems
Thanks to joeyfjj and mrknowitall I managed to download openBVE yesterday but I'm finding it too difficult to install (I'm 72 next week and not as sharp as I used to be), I can manage BVE4 brilliantly, managing to change locos, routes etc, the problem I have is that I'm running Windows 7 on my laptop and when I install BVE4 it won't run, with the following message being displayed "BVE has stopped working, windows is searching for a solution!" any ideas as to how to run BVE4 on my system please, Computer Spec; PB Easynote TM, AMD Proc. V120. 250Gb HDD, 3GB DDR3 Mem, Graphics card; ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250.

Google isn't rocket science... But here you go... http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=24938
OpenBVE, when installed, is better though.

Maybe not as sharp as you used to be, Algy, but when you get BVE4 working, you'll be sharper than Windows 7!

Why is that!, egg.
Are all the old bve4 routes still available for download, I have googled but all the old sites seem to have disappeared into oblivion?.
I have edited this post as I'm having problems installing BVE4 and think it is the old exe file, it must be corrupted, could someone please point me at where I can download/obtain the installation package as I'm sure you are all aware Mackoy's site no longer works.

Re: BVE5 installation problems
Algy, it's most likely not the file that's corrupt BVE4 will not work on modern graphics cards (those which support DirectX 10 or above).
Which route downloads are you looking for many of them have unfortunately gone due to mass falling out a year or so ago. However some have been put back mainly the TSC stuff and some of the LU stuff, I think.

Bve 5 runs smoother than bve4 and offers a better graphics layout, why don you download BVE5? Plus they're loads of up and coming items for BVE5

Re: BVE5 installation problems
Installed BVE5 and the accompanying route all went well with the installation, attempted to run the prog. getting this message;

clicked Continue then I get a message stating that BVE has shutdown
I tried to install microsoft.net framework 2 but when I attempted to install it I was informed that it did not support 64bit.
Then downloaded what I thought was the .net framework compatible with 64bit, when I tried to install it informed me it was .net4 and I already had it installed, all very confusing chaps.

Re: BVE5 installation problems
Try DirectX from microsoft's website. That's what's missing.

Re: BVE5 installation problems
I was referring to the fact that Windows 7 can't find the solution, so W7 isn't so smart...

I'm sorry then I don't know what's missing then, but the exception is saying it can't find something to do with DirectX.

Re: BVE5 installation problems
LRAndy, I think I may have sussed the installation problem, I downloaded DivX from Mackoys site, and now have the BVE screen displayed but completely black, so all I have to do is sort out where the files are located so that BVE can find them!, may need a little help with that as its a long time since I did this.
