My openBVE route editor
If you've seen this on the (former) openBVE Discussion Forum, I am just telling you that I've moved it to SourceForge.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/obre/
I will still be developing it, and I would like to catch up with any forks of openBVE. (Still haven't completed the reference XML...)
BTW I just registered here because openBVE is "officially" discontinued.

Re: My openBVE route editor
Well, it is a promising work, let's just hope it will work as intended... And don't be sad - the end of one thing usually brings a start of something new. Moreover, we are not brought down as long as we don't feel that way. There's a lot of features to be put to a good use!
Re: My openBVE route editor
Welcome aboard, Alvin. You may not find us quite as hi-tech savvy as the "other place", though we are a friendly enough bunch and don't bite (very often )
Your expertise will be most welcome.

Re: My openBVE route editor
I don't think the crazy rabbit is a threat. I see there's a great many of us visiting to see how events are shaping, that will scare bunny off.
It is most fortunate that this forum exists, having been established by great effort by Derryck. I'm sure we're all pleased to welcome those who have been made homeless by the closure of the OpenBVE Discussion Board. All who wish to participate and ensure the continuing use of the OpenBVE program are welcome. If that is what you wish, then we are all friends. Ain't that so, Derryck?

Having only come here few days ago, being exactly the group Graymac mentioned, I can confirm what he says; as you can well see on my post count, I felt homely round here at once (I think that's even more posts already than I ever did on Michelles board o.O)

Re: My openBVE route editor
Thumbs up, Gray. You have to take the bunny thing as a joke - he also likes to see good things happeng, so he can eat his carrot in peace and undisturbed.

It is good to see users feeling comfortable, I think a good atmosphere is what we need... especially now.

Re: My openBVE route editor
Go on, Derryck, throw the bunny rabbit an extra carrot! Did ye ever see so many visitors as we've had in the past 24 hours. We were busy before, now its all in overdrive!
Re: My openBVE route editor
Yes, but I think it won't do us any harm; the more heads, the more constructive things may arise.
No more carrots, he's already eaten one today and I don't want him to be fat.

Exactly. And, for anybody who is still pessimistic, this shows that a great many people are still interested in seeing the continuation of the OpenBVE sim and its excellent material. This is what shouts "It will survive" the loudest! And, bejaysus, we have some excellent members here.
Re: My openBVE route editor
Thanks for some encouragement (and lots of info about the bunny rabbit, which I still have no idea what it's about )
I don't think I am going to write any extra code on it until the reference XML is completed (as many functions and modifications depends on it, it's important). I don't feel like copy and paste so I'd like to look for volunteers to complete it for me
And how about creating a similar program for object editing? (with different functions of course, like real-time preview, texture mapping helper, or...)

Re: My openBVE route editor
That would be interesting. I confess I only use the plain and simple Notepad to create everything I've ever done for bve. I use a graphics tablet rather than a mouse. My dream editor would have a sidebar with buttons to insert all the common instructions with a single pen click, which would save typing "vertex", "co-ordinates" and all that stuff repeatedly. If that was somehow integrated with object viewer it would be a powerful tool. And how about creating a similar program for object editing? (with different functions of course, like real-time preview, texture mapping helper, or...)
Re: My openBVE route editor
Suggestion for new program: 2D train panel editor, with a preview to save on having to keep reloading openBVE?

Oh, I actually want to "forget" the 2D panel stuff...

Re: My openBVE route editor
I don't think the 2D (panel2) cab is ready to drop dead yet. A GOOD panel2 cab is better than a so-so 3d one. I'm not sure what is used in BVE5 but if it is still basically the panel2 there is a case to retain use of it for any developer who wishes to work with both sims.
Re: My openBVE route editor
I have been successful at converting a panel2.CFG of the new 450 for BVE5, aswel as a route!

For some reason OpenBVE routeeditor doesn't work for me.
When I tried to debug, it started with this error:

Re: My openBVE route editor
Build_Release contains nothing useful. Please use Build_Debug instead.

I originally tried that already built binary, but that doesn't work. Tried recompiling, but still doesn't work..
so apparently I built to release...

Can you point out what's the problem that leads you to building by yourself?
