Chatbox on tops?:D
Chatbox
How about having the chatbox on top of the page instead of on the bottom?

Re: Chatbox
Moving the chatbox to the top will reduce navigability for the resr of the site. The chatbox is a minor peripheral and should remain whwre it is, if it is to remain at all.

Good, at least you rovide some reasoning.
Re: Chatbox
the forum has just over 300 people registered. id say (and this is in no way meant to be rude) 1-3% of them use the chat box. Northern logs in and goes.... we have what? i'd say 30% productivity from the chat box... I don't see it working... sometimes it there... sometimes its not..
Id say just turn it off personally. the ads are always going to be there until the board is paid for.
Thought id leave my opinion on the chatbox

Re: Chatbox
I'm totally in agreement with Ben on this, I know I never use the thing myself and it seems only a small minority actually do use it.
Re: Chatbox
Now I had the option, I voted for turning it off. Actually, I never looked for a chatbox here because I never use it. You may retain it, but not for me

Re: Chatbox
I remember when it was first introduced for a trial period to see if it would be popular. It never really justified setting it up for the amount of use it gets. With this fact in mind I cannot see how it should be allowed to obstruct prime space on the board. As said before, it's a minority feature and not really worth having.
Re: Chatbox
It may be better removing the flood control limits for members that have a reasonable number of posts, and creating a off-topic thread for discussing matters that we used to discuss in the chat box.
Re: Chatbox
What Joey says re. "flood control" makes sense. (Divert the flood into Derryck's river ) There's no harm in retaining the goddamawful chatbox IF it is worth keeping. Though from the amount of use it gets there seems some doubt if it is worthwhile.
But it certainly doesn't need to get promoted, and get in the way of the core business activities.
