Managed Content?
Notice many of the new add-ons announced here are not making use of the managed content functions in openBVE. Developers, are you using it, and if no, why not?
Re: Managed Content?
Michelle told me my add ons will never be on the managed content list because and ill quote. " im a spoilt little sh*t" so im happy having my work on my site. Im getting over 50+ hits a day anyway

Re: Managed Content?
I will give you three reasons why I am not using it.
1) I don't understand the set up for managed content.
2) It is part of a development version of OpenBVE, I only use stable version at all times. So I am not in a position to experiment.
3) With over 25Gb a month in downloads I can't afford not to get it right.
I neither rule in or out the possibility of providing managed download in the future but I will not be an early adopter.

Re: Managed Content?
Not using the managed content, because my website host does not allow direct linking to the files "from the outside". The idea is not bad, as Graymac correctly pointed out, the explanation is yet another bunch of technical and not very user friendly terms.
On the other hand, I think the managed content is already a part of the stable version 1.4, Gray.

Re: Managed Content?
Thanks. I'm using v 1.2.14 still. New 1.4 seems to have come out this month. I confess to being idle and not having done anything so far this year, either playing or developing. I will go and stand in the corner now.On the other, I think the managed content is already a part of the stable version 1.4, Gray.
So that's down to two reasons. It's not that I have anything against the managed download idea, I really don't see how to implement it and I have a hell of a lot of files to consider with all the routes and trains I'm providing. I would be happier to perhaps allow the managed stuff to be hosted where I didn't have to manage it, if you see what I mean.

Re: Managed Content?
I think I'll join you, as I am using the same stable version. But I keep myself informed.
Re: Managed Content?
I too am using that version, until i see a version that offers better rendering i see no reason to upgrade. I still have my fingers crossed for mackoy to make exteriors a possibility in later stages of development =)

Re: Managed Content?
I just tried the new version and all I get is back and white graphics, so I restored version 1.2.14.0.

Maybe it is a special gift for those, who want to see their world and life black and white.

And there I was, being on my best behavior, trying not to poke fun
There seems to be managed content from Brazil, Japan, somewhere up near Russia, and somewhere else.

Singapore! Was an early adopter because I wanted to try out how easy it was for the end-user, since to this date our local BVE forums gets flooded with questions regarding how they should install an add-on...

And the place near Russia is Hungary.
