Curverail Editer?
Hi all.
I wonder if anybody have heard of a track generating software called "Curverail Editer".
And yes, the name is spelled "editer", not "editor".

What were you expecting it to do that cannot be done with Switch or Railgen?
I would imagine if it was a better tool for the job then it might have been seen around in more places. As it is, it is very obscure, at least here in Europe.

ah. should teach myself to ask it if a google search won't help. Oh well.graymac wrote:Switch will (and does) work on 64bit win7 using dosbox - free on web.

Re: Curverail Editer?
For anyone interested to use switch in 64 bit windows:
http://www.dosbox.com/
I think the 64 bit Switch question was first raised by velaro about a year ago on here.

Re: Curverail Editer?
This is a section of an underground curved track in an openbve subway line, which is similar to what I've been trying to create.
The track above has a different cross-section than typical tracks generated by Switch/Railgen, as demonstrated below:
After reading the manual of Switch, I have no idea how to use Switch to generate tracks like the one above. Out of curiosity I decided to read the source code (it's a .b3d file) and discovered that this track object is generated by curverail editer. Which explains why I'm here...
Kudos to leezer3 for the link

Re: Curverail Editer?
Did you want curves or pointwork too?
The OpenBVE Object Bender from the official tools will create simple curves if you create a base segment object
Switch's track profile is basically hard-coded, so wouldn't be easy to change.
If you're looking to build pointwork, I suspect the best way to do this would be to build the curves with the OpenBVE Object Bender, then some manual combination of the curve bases and Switch generated point blades.
Curverail doesn't do points, so if you're going that way, you'd have to experiment for yourself.

That didn't work.
I created the concrete track "base" by coding a segment in b3d then used object bender. Then I created a switch using Switch, and removed the ballast and sleeper so that only the rails, points and overhead cables were present. When I merged the two files into one, it turned out that the coordinates didn't match. I thought it was a great idea at first, though.

Maybe a program could be made to edit existing curves in a way to suit the user need

Is this speculation, wishful thinking or do you have any working ideas or practical suggestions how it might come about? I would have though if it was practical or worthwhile it might have been done before now.
