Unhandled Windows Forms Exception Empty Unhandled Windows Forms Exception

Post by LXQt Sun Feb 23, 2020 4:16 pm

So today I've decided to test out the package feature in OpenBVE. When I was installing the package I created, I got this error
https://servimg.com/view/20036376/1
I believe that it was caused by Chinese character in that file name, is there any chance of fixing it?

Chinese characters sounds quite possible Sad

Can you share the broken file at all or reproduce with a minimal sample (the package doesn't care at the minute about the actual contents) which I can see?

I don't have the package file on me right now, but it's the train causing it so I am only sending the train, use whatever route you want and try to reproduce that
p.s. no problem on creating, only installing

Created and installed OK here (Both in the debugger and in a fresh build pulled from the server)

That probably means the Package.xml file contains something it doesn't like, so I could do with a copy of that Smile

Other possibilities:

  • Which Windows version and language are you on?
  • I've tried Chinese and Japanese characters in the name / description/ author fields, which appear to work, maybe you've used something really odd?

1.Windows 10
2.I was using English as my display language(but also installed Chinese Traditional and Simplified)
3.I've now tried using Chinese as the name /author fields, and japanese as the description, once I hit create, that error happens

Ah, now I've found it- Thanks.

You need to select the folder you're trying to package in the first dialog (where you save the filename etc.)

Fixed the crash (and a couple of other related spots), and added an appropriate error prompt if you try to do this Smile

Oh you need to select it? No wonder why the dependency button is disabled
Thanks, I will try it tomorrow!
