BVE Archive?
Just thinking out loud here, I've just seen the thread asking for the Northern Line route, I've used webarchive to find the Trainsimstuff webpage but from there the links are dead...
How does the BVE community feel about setting up some kind of archive site where old BVE 2/4 routes could be uploaded and stored for future generations of BVE player?
I'm aware this would create a minefield of copyright concerns, but can't see it being an impossiblity.
Thinking about it more, it wouldn't even need to be a proper website, maybe just older stuff uploaded to somewhere like media fire with a dedicated thread on here where the links could be stored?
Thoughts?

Re: BVE Archive?
There is material hosted on this BVEWW website, though only at the discretion of the site owner and his management team and with the permission of the contents owner.
Hosting older material has been discussed before. Suffice to say the problems arise when the owner of the contents is not available to ask / grant permission to distribute the items.
That's not to say that it would be impossible for a third-party to initiate a site and fill it with legacy material. There was a (German, IIRC) effort around about a year or so ago, not sure if it's still out there. Anyone thinking about doing a repository site for legacy material shuld be aware of the pitfalls. That is why, I believe, that the BVEWW team have steered clear of such an undertaking - and wisely so, IMO.
In the past, I've been made aware of items on media fire that are "knocked off" and not legitimate at all. Obviously, as it is well known, NO respectable members of this board would condone or encourage such underhandedbehaviour.

Re: BVE Archive?
There is one semi archive site I'm aware of that I've found a bit of old content on.

Moderator Notes:
As graymac has alluded to, the issue of copyright is one with many pitfalls involved.
Whilst some content may have become unavailable inadvertantly, other items have been removed from public circulation deliberately for many different reasons.
We would ask that you *do not* repost any item (or links therein) without being certain that there is specific permission in place to do so.
If you have any concerns about any link or site, please report for a member of the moderating team to investigate accordingly
