Germany today
Two trains, apparently a front to front crash. 9 dead so far, over one hundred injured, 15 very severely. What on Earth have they been doing there...
Re: Germany today
We will see... Among the casualties there are up to now two train drivers and two train guards, probably a train driver trainer and four or five passengers. Considering the wounded, these numbers might prove not to be final. It is indeed a bad day...

Re: Germany today
Well, it has gone up to 11 deaths today, with 10 still in critical state. Looks like someone switched the security system to "manual" mode... also, apparently the dispatcher at Bad Aibling had a very bad day at the office to say the least.

Re: Germany today
That's just clueless press people speculating. Let's wait for official information. What the media say makes little to no sense currently. Though it does indeed look like the dispatcher might have been the error source, we're talking untimely subsidiary signal application. Could still be totally wrong though, there's a reason why accident reports need about a year to be written usually.

Correct, I am not quoting media, though, I am quoting my fellow dispatcher in Brno, who knows a couple of people in Munich... I am not blaming anyone, just saying what it looks like.
Re: Germany today
Currently it's ten dead, among them are both train drivers, both train guards and now it seems also two train driver trainers.

Re: Germany today
It is now confirmed, the dispatcher did use a subsidiary signal untimely. Shortly after, he saw it coming, but it was too late. He was brought to a safe place and is being supervised all the time, mostly to protect him from himself. I doubt he'll ever be happy again, the guilt he has to carry for the rest of his life is a greater punishment than any court could ever hand out. Let us hope he'll get all the psychological treatment he needs, or otherwise Bad Aibling might cost a twelfth life...
