There's no need to degrade anything. You cannot have top res detail on a low-perf machine, so although you are restricting the customer base if you make a hi-res work it is quite legitimate to do so. There is sure to be top-end PC users who demand top detail work. So these are your obviousl customers first and foremost. Like not everyone can have a Mercedes, sometimes a Skoda will have to do

Well, I would like everyone to be able to run it... I don't want to exclude anyone from having fun just because of having weaker PC...

That's thinking you should drop as quick as possible. I've seen simulators getting ruined by this. PCs develop, programs have to follow. That's hard sometimes, but it must be this way. Graymac's reasoning is correct. If devs would try to keep accessible to weaker PCs, we'd be stuck with routes like "Albanya" et al.

EDIT: Can't use it myself, sadly... (about 0.25FPS to 1FPS) And still I am convinced of what I wrote above.

New version of class 163 has been uploaded to my website; this update only includes a different controls layout. Make srue to read the controls file in case of download. Smile

Couldn't two versions of a route be made available! As I now have a 23" Widescreen Monitor I had to decide wehther to stick to the standard format when making up a new Web Site but knowing that it wouldn't work properly on a standard monitor I descided to make the web pages in both Formats. Just a suggestion! Obvioulsly I need to give out both URLs to give a choice.

Just to make sure - are you talking about hi- and low- res versions?

No. Just the width of the page to fit the widescreen. However, this also allows much larger photos to be added, which increases the amount of detail in a photo. I always use 80dpi instead of the suggested 72dpi for my photos.

In regards OpenBVE I was simply thinking that separate route files could contain either high and low resolution objects. However, I have just considered too that both objects would have to be made available during loading and may create it's own problem!

Ah, you mean my website...? At present the width is fixed, because of logo issues, when I set the percentage. As soon as I find the cause of the issue, I will switch to % rate and the website will fit your screen. These forums already have this feature enabled.

with only a clapped out P4 2.4ghz with 2GbRAM/GeForce8400, Once again I ventured into deepest CZ rep. Once out into open fields I managed to just get 28fps at best. Playing with the Key9 made no difference either way.

I didn't mention which version of the prog I used, which may have relevance to the results above, particularly why Key9 made no difference. It was running v. 1.2.14.0 under WinXPPro. And running it twice more still indicated avg. 12fps with stop-frame in several places.

OK, that would be shed/passing trains, I suppose... the 9 key is worth trying after stopping on that big bridge behind Lipnice...

Thought I'd put the video of a real thing steering from the station (don't get confused, 163 and 362 are the same engines with same sounds, they only differ in tractions)... And actually this is one of the real locos I have made. Very Happy

You might compare...
