Unable to load trains in OpenBVE v1.5.3.10

Post by BillEWS on Thu Nov 08, 2018 1:19 pm

This is the only version of OpenBVE I ever had so much trouble getting set-up. It is actually running and opening up and I can select a rout and trains. However, I am unable to find any trains in spite of their folders showing up in the Train lading window.

Here are two images of my set up for this version.....

I have pasted the files from Train 2 folder into the Train folder. You will note the XXXWindow. These are the present trains I am using in the older versions of OpenBVE but all these trains crash pretty soon after loading them up in v 1.5.3.10, therefore I assume the new train folder set up is required. However,, as you see the train folder show up but there doesn't appear to be any trains within them!

The only other folder I don't understand is the openBVE Addons folder! Could this be the problem. There are folders within this folder but no data files!

I downloaded v1.5.3.10 from the Celtictrainsim.com web site.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I think you've made an install error.

Looking at it, I think you've assumed that the NWM train files are actual driveable trains & extracted them into the Train folder-
They aren't; They're the passing train objects found in the route.

These files should be extracted into the NWM object folder, not your trains folder. (e.g. Railway\Object\NWM_Open )

Drivable trains are entirely separate, and need to be downloaded (for example) from BVE4 Trains Smile

Thanks, Leezer3.  I already have most of the BVE4 trains required on my hard drive.

I have set up a fresh v1.5.3.10 Folder but stupidly deleted the older folder before saving the latest NWM folders so need to download them again. However, I can't remember the password for getting into the download page. I will have to gett he password once again.

I now have v1.5.3.10 set-up as a stand alone with only the folders and files for NWM. The programme loads and opens OK. It finds all the Routes and Trains. I can run the trains from the Loco/Sidings up to the station, or if it opens with a train already at the station. However in every case as soon as the departure time counts down to zero the game immediately crashes back to the Main Screen. This happens with all scenarios.

This suggests, to me, that the problem is with the Object folder! There is something I am not understanding about the new set-up for NWM and not seeing it. Likewise, I am not sure of what the OpenBVE Addons folder is about and if it is in the correct place! it was set-up at 'Target' C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\openBVE\LegacyContent\Railway and 'Start In' C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\openBVE\LegacyContent
when I first downloaded the latest NWM download. I note that it contains nothing but and empty Train folder!

I hope this helps for someone to know what the probem is, thanks.

Luckily I have the previous version of OpenBVE set-up up as a stand alone and that is working fine with all the routes and train folders of that time. However, I would liie to get v1.5.3.210 working correctly.

That sounds similar to the problem found in this thread (http://bveworldwide.forumotion.com/t1628-nwm-openbve-1-5-10-crash) which I think was fixed.

Apologies, definitely fixed in the latest build Sad

It specifically is caused by stations which the train is set to stop at, but have no defined stop points via .stop

I'll push a replacement stable build now.

I have exactly the same problem; new gaming computer powerful graphic card. I  down loaded the latest version of OpenBVE and the new NWM routes. Get the buzzer from the guard, power up and it jumps back to the OpenBVE home page. Doesn't matter what train I am driving. As BillEWS stated I can also drive from some of the sidings, and about 10% of the routes I can drive, some crash at an intermediate station, again when the right away buzzer sounds. But 90% of the time it crashed at the start as soon as you get the buzzer to proceed.
