Windows 10 Issues and HD Heights Announcement

Post by Movingmillion on Tue Oct 16, 2018 4:40 pm

I am absolutely thrilled to say that I have contacted former (sort of former) BVE developer BusheyHeath and have learnt of some issues he is currently having with the program.

  • BusheyHeath was working on his Northern Heights project (Which I have dubbed the HD Heights to differentiate from the earlier route) but abandoned it around the time when he updated the computer to Windows 10
  • According to them, after this point, openBVE, ObjectViewer, and all other associated development programs for openBVE itself, stopped working.
  • While messaging he mentioned that looking back he has found all of the Northern Heights project; in its entirety!
  • He also mentioned that he is looking for the remnants of the City and South London Railway project.

BusheyHeath says I may be able to help, and that he wishes to have functioning tools for playtesting, playing, and developing the Northern Heights route (and the C&SLR possibly). Do you know of any underlying problems that may hinder usage of openBVE and associated programs, with Windows 10?

I'm using OpenBVE and it's associated programs on a brand new Windows 10 HP laptop without any issues... maybe ask him to install a fresh copy of OpenBVE using the latest downloads?

Nothing I'm aware of.

There have been a couple of 'suddenly stopped working' reports over the years, but nothing that I've ever been able to reproduce or debug.
The most likely cause of something like this would be Windows 'helpfully' deciding to update the graphics driver.

If he installs the latest version and it doesn't work, ask him to post here, and I can always try to figure out what's wrong.

I'll post again in a few days once I receive a reply; I have sent him the latest version.
