Release Permission

Post by Movingmillion on Tue Sep 11, 2018 6:53 pm

Hello all,
I have recently come into possession of the Northern Heights route made by the BVERoutesandTrains team. I would like to reach out to developers here in the hope that one of the original developers of the route will give me permission to re-release the route, and by extension put the route back into the public domain? I realise that I am in a slightly dodgy territory when it comes to forum rules, and with the hope that I am not infringing the rules of the forum, I hope to receive a reply from who this may concern.

Thanks,
Dex Montague

Thought that one was lost forever, if you get permission to upload it, let us know where!

That said, my advise, if you have no luck contacting the original developers would be to upload it, acknowledging the original developers as I have done with bve file converter.  Slightly naughty yes, but I'm sure when developers move on from BVE they won't have any issue with their old work being made available.

This was built by Richard Helliewell.

It was withdrawn in ~2011 as a result of some of the issues which long-term members will be well aware of.
With this in mind, please do not post the route without prior communication / permission.

He was about relatively recently (this year) on RailUK, so hasn't vanished completely.

I'll reach out myself, but in the meantime I'm going to lock this thread due to the above.

Hi Chris,

No objections from me, I have long since left this behind so please do with it as you and others see fit. Enjoy!

Thanks,
Rich

That would be a massive help, thanks  Very Happy
I will post a temporary link and once this has been sorted out we can update the post. Could we get in contact with the peeps behind LondonBVEWeebly to be ready to update the website?

Seven years of searching from me (as you will find out from seeing a post I made when I was ten), and seven years outside of the public domain, this route is seeing the light of day once again!

BVE London Tube aren't actually anything to do with us directly....

No email address provided on their site either which is helpful.

Small word of warning:
This calls for a bunch of objects from the v3 of the Northern Line route.
V4 was the version most recently available, which was from Trainsimstuff.

Let me do a little investigating, but I think I can drop suitable replacements for most of those in from either the NWM public domain stuff or my own resources.

Great stuff you’re allowed to release it. What about hosting it on your website or asking someone if they are willing to do so

I have had some offers from senior users and am extremely grateful for their assistance in restoring and preserving old bve routes.
