Door animations

Post by Movingmillion on Thu Aug 23, 2018 5:17 pm

Hello all,

Is there any known way to make each door on a train close at slightly different times, in a manner like older London Underground stock does?

I've noticed the rate of opening/closing ir linked to the duration of the drcls sound file.

I am aware of this being the case, but is there a way of making each individual door animate somewhat differently?

There is a way. Ad1992 did it in his door animations in the 96 stock. I’ve been testing a lot out and I think it’s the idea that the speed of each door is different. I’m not sure of the exact mechanics but I’ve been playing around with the animation code of the 1996 stock to find out the exact code

Even that in a way is not exactly what I'm looking for. I'm looking for an effect where the doors are sticky, like specifically the A60, C69/77, 72, 67, and stock older than them.

Actually, I’ve realised that it’s not the speed of the doors it’s the delay in which each door is held back for before it begins its closing animation

I also want to know if there is a possibility of making different doors go at different speeds so it is as realistic as possible.

Yes, but each door model must be a single door and not a chain of doors put together if you know what I mean.

There should be some way to model each door independently, at different speeds to each other. Maybe a developer for the openBVE program itself could enlighten us.

There is. But each door.csv file must represent a single door. You need to change the delay time for each door in its closing animation  if you want to achieve that then you need to make the delay time for each door different

That sounds good. We should be able to implement this I hope.

Correct.

I presume this is to mimic BVE2 / BVE4 behaviour.

Interestingly, the code also has a commented out section which generates a random open / close duration for each door.
