The Tube Sim

Post by Movingmillion on Fri Aug 17, 2018 9:30 pm

This is a game I am working on using my laptop that is a text adventure encompassing all of the stations on the Underground, with extras including Crossrail. I have already done the Bakerloo, Central, Jubilee, Metropolitan and Piccadilly in full, as well as Crossrail, and will be including the DLR at a later date. It also includes fictional extensions, including the Met to Aylesbury, the original Fleet Line Extension to Thamesmead and the Bakerloo to Camberwell. Once I have access to my laptop again I will be able to provide a link.

For those who try this simulator: please reply to this topic with feedback so that I may improve it! I have been working on this for about two months on and off.

I can now give you the link to the practically finished version. I have yet to add the photographs of every station and the DLR. Some of the formatting has yet to be updated to the final version.

Fun fact: The first station I added was Aylesbury, and the last was St. Ann's Road between Manor House and Turnpike Lane. It was planned to be built but there was nothing there in the area. This is why there is a large gap at this stage on the line.

It needs more photographs at the moment, which will take several days to implement (by days I mean hypothetically days without break). I only have photographs for Aylesbury to Amersham, Chalfont, Chesham, and Rickmansworth. I am looking for specific photographs at specific angles for this simulator.

I didn't come across any photos yesterday, i had a look at Aylesbury to Amersham just now, the photos make it more interesting all right. Just a few suggestions that might make the game more interesting would be to, as time allows, add a brief history of each station and local places of interest in the area of the station. Maybe even a railway map with the current stations' position highlighted for those of us not from England who have never heard of most of the stations.

Thank you for this feedback! These are fantastic suggestions and I shall be implementing them as soon as possible. I'll be doing the photographs first as the game is definitely not that interesting without them.

Yeah. Giving some stats about each station sounds good. And if you’re looking for more specific pictures. The only advice I would say is that for the stations that are operating, you’ll have to go down and take a picture of the station at the angle you want.

Currently I have been able to find photographs on the Internet that suit my requirements. I realise that it sounded like I was asking people to find me photographs. This is not the case and I apologise to those reading for the possible confusion.
